Although no one is really sure of how or when the game of Blackjack was invented,
it is currently the most popular table game at most American casinos. Part of the
massive appeal of the game is that the player is able to make choices that directly
influence the results of the game. Because the player is so involved in the game's
outcome, many systems for beating the odds of Blackjack have been developed. These
systems range from betting styles to extensive counting of the cards that have been
dealt. However, there is no system that guarantees a win on any particular hand.
The best basic strategy is to follow a consistent betting style throughout the game.
In Blackjack, you and every other player compete directly against the dealer. You
are dealt two cards and may draw additional cards until your hand adds up to, or
is close to 21. As long as you don't go over 21 and still beat the dealer's hand,
you win.
