Bomber Busting Over Bremen

Take to the skies of World War II Europe and fly missions for either the USAAF or Luftwaffe as industrial targets in Bremen are put under siege by B-17s. In this Bremen Mission download, you can get up and flying immediately by following the instructions included in the tutorial, or use the provided resources to recreate your own Eighth Air Force attack on Bremen.

The included tutorial will show you how to:

  • Create a large formation of B-17s, based on actual Eighth Air Force formations.
  • Place buildings and flak batteries in the city of Bremen for the B-17s to bomb.
  • Create waypoints for the attacking and defending aircraft to follow.
  • Compile and build the mission from the USAAF and Luftwaffe sides.
Included in this mission download is a "How To" tutorial detailing the entire mission-creation process, and a great article on "Escorting and Attacking USAAF Heavy Bomber Formations."

The Bremen Mission is available for download as a Zip file. The following files are included in the Zip:
  • USAAF Bremen.mis and Luftwaffe Bremen.mis—Use these files to set up and play the missions immediately.
  • Luftwaffe Bremen.xls and USAAF Bremen.xls—These contain mission info used by the Mission Editor to create the .mis files. They're provided for reference-if you need help during the tutorial, you can refer to these spreadsheets.
  • Template.xls—This is a blank spreadsheet for mission data. Use it to enter mission information such as formations, ground object placement, waypoints, AI skill, etc.
  • Javelin.xls—This spreadsheet contains the formation data for new B-17 formations you'll be adding to the Bremen Mission.
  • Flak Battery.xls—This spreadsheet contains placement data for new German flak gun emplacements you'll build in the Bremen Mission.
  • Bremen Mission tutorial 1.5.doc—This explains the entire Bremen Mission creation process.
  • Mission Editor.xls—The Mission Editor contains formation data as well as what you'll use to actually generate the mission file. You can also download the Mission Editor.xls. You won't need the other files included in the mission_editor.zip file to work on the Bremen Missions. However, we strongly suggest you run through the Mission Editor tutorial.
