Q. I have been playing Combat Flight Simulator for over a year now and recently there has been an outbreak of pilots who have discovered the auto-follow mode. Auto-follow greatly reduces the fun and challenge of this great game [when playing Multiplayer on the MSN Gaming Zone]. I really hope that the good people at Microsoft are addressing this problem. Thank you very much.

A. Thank you, and all of the rest of you who wrote in. We are definitely aware of the problem. This was a debug function that we left in the game by mistake, and we apologize. We assure you that we are addressing this issue in Combat Flight Simulator version 2. Unfortunately there's not much we can do when people choose to cheat, but a good site to find anti-cheat applications is at the Combat Flight Center Web site. Meanwhile, playing "password protected" games with people you know is one of the best ways to avoid cheaters, and keep a log of people who cheat so you won't play with them again.

Q. How do I download airplanes off the Internet? Is there an easy way to add more campaigns to Combat Flight Simulator?

A. There are a number of third-party airplanes, missions and campaigns available over the Internet. "Third-party" means that individuals or companies other than Microsoft are making and providing these to you. You can try the sites listed here. Please keep in mind that Microsoft doesn't endorse or support any of these third-party add-ons.

Q. Is there a Pacific Theater version in the works?

A. Yours is just one of many, many mails we've received requesting a Pacific version of CFS. If we had our choice, we'd recreate every plane and every theatre from the WWI to the present! We really can't say what's up next for CFS, but we'll be making an announcement soon.

Q. I'm having video card problems. Any suggestions?

A. Video Display and Video Driver Information Although DirectX has drivers available for most major manufacturers' video cards, in many cases you'll get better video performance if you install the latest drivers from your video card manufacturer. A list of these sites is available right here.
