Mission Builder 1.0 Release Notes
Many problems have been identified and fixed since Beta 2, thanks to your bug reports.
These problems include:
-
More tolerances for loading and saving missions that have structural errors in them
-
Fixes to allow the mission builder to run on French and German operating systems
-
The Briefing and Start dialogs' dependent file list now includes spawn files
-
Many help content improvements
-
Fixes to Escort functionality
Also, the final release also includes new tutorial called "Calais Cleanup",
which demonstrates the use of mission building concepts.
We received requests for a few features that we were not able to include in this
release, specifically:
-
The ability to "zoom in on terrain"
-
The ability to use CFS2 events
-
The ability to start a mission within the mission builder
The first two options would require upgrades to Combat Flight Simulator 3 itself.
Unfortunately, as valuable as these additions would have been, these additions were
beyond the scope of our release of the CFS3 Mission Builder 1.0.
Release Notes from Beta 2
The Beta 2 release is a maintenance upgrade to fix technical problems that prevented
people from being able to install or use the Mission Builder.
Bug fixes from Beta 1:
Installation no longer uses a script. In the first beta, the Windows Installer
(MSI) used a script to determine where CFS3 is installed. In the process of doing
this, the script would use the GetObject method of FileSystemObject to verify that
the CFS3 Update was installed. However, this would incorrectly trigger "Malicious
Script: FileSystemObject, GetObject" warnings in Norton Antivirus. This installation
script has been completely removed.
Windows 98 and Windows ME stability bug fixes. You can now load and save properly
on Windows 98 machines. Also, the "A resource was" error that occurred on Windows
98 and Windows ME machines has been fixed.
Mission Load and Save Improvements. The mission editor will now load hand-created
missions that have basic validation problems. We've also corrected a problem that
caused the mission editor to change all the vehicles in ground formations to one
type of vehicle.
"Green map" when right clicking. Sometimes, when you right clicked on the map you
would see a completely green map. This problem has been resolved.
