Edit Gamer Profile 

You can click your gamer card, which appears at the top of the Games for Windows - LIVE Guide, to see your gamer profile. From the Gamer Profile screen you can perform the following activities. The options that appear depend on how your profile is set up.

  • View Games: Lists all the games you've played.
  • Edit Gamer Profile: Provides a place to select your gamer picture, motto, or gamer zone.
  • View Rep: Provides a summary of your player reputation on LIVE, determined by player reviews submitted about you.
  • Online Status: Allows you to choose how you appear to others while playing games online.
  • Account Management: Opens your account in a browser window so that you can modify your membership, contact information, password, purchase points, and view policy information. For questions about your account, see Account FAQ.
  • Microsoft Points: Add Microsoft Points to your account.
  • Redeem Code: If you have a code to redeem, click this button then enter the code in the space provided.
  • My Downloads: Click this button to launch the Games for Windows - LIVE client and to see everything that you have downloaded. Click YES when prompted to open the Games for Windows - LIVE client.
  • Enable Auto Sign-in: Click this button to allow your account to sign in automatically when you launch Games for Windows - LIVE.

If you have an online gamer profile, you can change the gamer picture, motto, and gamer zone.

To change your Games for Windows - LIVE gamer profile:

  1. Press the Home key on your keyboard to open the Guide.
  2. In the Guide, select your gamer card.
  3. Select Edit Gamer Profile.
    • To change your gamer picture, which is visible to anyone who views your gamer profile, select Gamer Picture, Change Gamer Picture, and then choose a picture.
    • To change your personal picture, select Gamer Picture, Change Personal Picture, and then choose a picture. Only your friends can see your personal picture.
    • To change your motto, select Motto.
    • To choose a gamer zone that fits your gaming style, select Gamer Zone.
    • To alter your Location, Name, or Bio, choose the appropriate option and make the changes.
  4. Press the Home key on your keyboard to return to your game.

Create or change gamertag

When you access the online options in a game, you will be prompted to create a gamertag (profile name). Your gamertag can be from 1 to 15 characters (a-z, A-Z, 0-9, and space), it must begin with a letter, it cannot end in a space, and it cannot contain two spaces in a row.

Note: Once you create a Gamertag, you cannot change it without paying a fee (800 Microsoft Points).

To change your Gamertag:

  • 1. Launch any Games for Windows – LIVE title.
  • 2. Log into Games for Windows – LIVE using the Gamertag you wish to change the name of.
  • 3. Press the guide button on the controller, or the home key on the keyboard to bring up the guide.
  • 4. Select Gamertag
  • 5. Select Edit Profile
  • 6. Select Gamertag
  • 7. Select Change Gamertag, at which point you will be able to change your Gamertag at a cost of 800 points.
