"Download failed" error 

This error may occur during the download process.

First, try downloading the files again. If you purchased multiple items, download one file at a time by canceling any other downloads in progress.

If the process fails after another attempt, try downloading the item again at a later time. If the problem continues, follow these steps to resolve this issue.

  1. Close all browser windows, games, and programs currently connecting to the Internet except Games for Windows – LIVE.
  2. In Games for Windows – LIVE, click My Media and then Active Downloads. Cancel all downloads and close the program.
  3. Next, empty the Games for Windows – LIVE cache
    • Click Start and then Run
    • For Windows XP in the Run box, type: %USERPROFILE%\local settings\application data For Windows Vista in the Run box,, type: %localappdata%\Microsoft\GFWLive\Downloads
    • Press Enter to open the Downloads folder
    • Empty the contents of this folder by selecting all content and deleting it using the Delete key or option.
    • Close all windows
  4. Restart your computer system.
  5. Open Games for Windows – LIVE and now try downloading the item again.
