DirectPlay® Upgrade

The DirectX 6.1a release is designed to optimize specific multiplayer communication protocols used by DirectPlay and accommodate certain anti-piracy schemes that are coming into widespread use by game publishers.

This release allows applications to use an encryption technique (anti-piracy) that utilizes what we call a ripple launcher. This encryption technology is increasing in use by several publishers to prevent piracy. If you are having trouble trying to join games hosted on the internet, then this fix may correct it. Additionally, several internet communication techniques are enhanced to provide better performance for the user.

REQUIREMENTS:
For Windows® 95 or Windows 98, DirectX 6.1 must already be installed. Please use the following instructions to unpack and install the DirectPlay 6.1a files for Midtown Madness.
