"The graphics are absolutely gorgeous... The physics model is absolutely unreal, and it's not an unheard reaction to actually cringe when seeing the rider bounce and skid across the terrain. "Bottom line: Motocross Madness is a perfect game for racing fans and sadists alike."

"This is not only one of the best games I've played all year (Might&Magic VI, Unreal) but it is the best racing game I've ever played. I'm a big fan of Papyrus' car racing games, and I've played most of the more popular motorcycle games. I can say without a doubt that none of those games have ever made me as addicted to them as I am to Motocross Madness. This game crosses all genres and platforms, and appeals to an audience devoid of gameplay preference. Motocross Madness has taken me back to the sand pits and let me relive some of the best times of my life. I know there are other dirt bike games coming soon, but what they plan on adding to the genre is beyond me."

"A fast-paced and extremely addictive game. Stunning graphics feature dazzling environments, excellent dust effects and eerily accurate shadow modeling. Music and sound is top-notch. Over 30 tracks to race on, and even includes many freestyle stunt quarries. A total blast, highly recommended."

"Motocross Madness shreds in the fun department and that's what really counts. I'm terrible at these type of games and I loved it anyway! I haven't enjoyed a 'racing' sim this much since Carmageddon. If you even remotely like these type of games, Motocross Madness is definitely a game worth picking up."

"Motocross Madness is definitely a game any racing fan will enjoy. If you enjoyed Excite Bike you will enjoy Motocross Madness. Download the demo to try it out and if you like it, buy it! We did."

"Does MCM beat the famed Motoracer? Definitely. Is it worth a look at? For sure! Be sure to pick up Motocross Madness because I guarantee it to be the most fun you will have in a long time. It's got 5 different events, multiple stunts, awesome graphics and excellent multiplayer capabilities. The mind blistering speed will blow you away! So, my hat goes off to the people at Microsoft Gaming for a job well done."

"Perhaps it's because someone on board understands that game-play, rather than anything else is the sole meaningful judgement criterion for a game. Maybe they're just lucky. Either way, Motocross Madness rates an Awesome. If you have the Force Feedback stick, I advise you to get your money's worth out of it with this title."

"Motocross Madness 3D is a great sounding, great looking and solid playing title. It has a large number of tracks and playing modes, as well as a track designer, and multiplayer support in the Internet Gaming Zone. It offers a rather addictive gameplay experience, even if the physics are relaxed to enhance the fun factor. If you would like a motorcycle racing title which strikes a good balance between the shallow but fun arcade games and the deep, customizable sims, Motocross Madness is worth a look."

"While the genre of motorcycle racing games has a number of products currently on the market such as Castrol Honda Superbike and Redline Racer, gamers will soon be able to taste the feel of bikes in the dirt; enter Motocross Madness by Microsoft. Certainly the venerable MotoRacer had some great action with its split on racing and dirt biking, but by the looks of Microsoft's comprehensive take on the subject, this might be the definitive off road "in the dirt" biking experience."

"I can't just stop enjoying the fun, trying to beat my last time (or my kid's best time)... This is a well constructed game that is very addictive."

"I think though that it says volumes that I'm not into racing games per say, but I can get into Motocross Madness. There's enough action, variety and good old fashion fun here to please a lot of people. Here's a case where the playability is definitely a stronger suit than the graphics-and the graphics are damn good. If all racing games were this good, there would be no reason to leave my PC and all except for bathroom runs and munchie breaks."

"So grab your controller and give Motocross Madness a try. I guarantee that you won't be able to put it down. This game is just pure fun, and that's what gaming's all about."

"If you're into racing games involving cool motorcycles and you have a directX 3-d video card, this is the game for you. For those of you who aren't die-hard racing fans, this game may change your tune..."

"It is very rare that a game comes along that is able to combine great features with addictive gameplay. Even more rare is when that same game is able to reach beyond its target audience and appeal to fans of all game types. This is definitely one of those games; no matter who you are, no matter what type of game you prefer, you will relish and bask in the glory that is Motocross Madness."

"The first thing you notice when you load up Motocross Madness is the spectacular graphics. "If you are looking for lots of speed coupled with lots of air and great graphics then Motocross Madness is definitely something to look forward to from Microsoft and Rainbow Studios this August."

"Sure, there are some really great motorcycle games out there, but lets talk dirt! Microsoft's Motocross Madness takes this genre to another level by trying to be the definitive game on dirt biking. Let me just say, so far so good...
"The fist thing I noticed when I first began to tinker with the game is the gorgeous eye-candy. Dirt never looked so good!"

"If you want to be in complete control of a motocross bike and race your way through many different environments, then Motocross Madness from Microsoft is for you."

"Once on the bike, surrounded by AI bikes, I got my first chance to see the graphics engine. It's excellent! "The thumps of the bike (and the driver!) hitting the ground are enough to make you wince in empathy for your alter-ego. "...if you like the idea of a complex biker/bike physics model in various off-road courses, complete with just about every stunt imaginable and jumps that catch a LOT of air, this is one you should keep your eye on."

"My world was coming apart. Sexy Spice was gone--leaving the rest of the Spice Girls in the lurch and yours truly in a major funk. But the good folks at Microsoft pulled me out of my depression with a recent build of the oh-so-sweet Motocross Madness due in late August. So, is Microsoft pushing this "Madness" series a bit too far? Monster Truck Madness may be too much for some folks, but in my opinion, it's on the right track."

"A gorgeously rendered motorcycling game in which players control a rider as he negotiates and jumps around the most scarred landscape ever created".

"Arguably one of the best demos of [Gamestock] was an insane off-road biking sim appropriately titled Motocross Madness... Motocross Madness ran at smooth frame-rates, often exceeding 30fps on 3Dfx-based systems. And with multiplayer support, you can expect major vehicular mayhem on and off the race-course."

What a Beta tester has to say
Hello All,
I wanted to give you guys some big ol' "thumbs up" feedback on the Game so far. I love this!
I've played all the MC sims & games out there, and for my money, Motocross Madness tops them all. I have been having an absolute blast playing this thing! It blows away MotoRacer, the previous standard of the genre. Things I really like:
- The graphics look great, especially the terrain. I love the way the perspective changes properly when you catch some really big air! And the textures look really good, there is considerable variety to the terrain and the shading as well.
- The physics feel right, you get the proper sense of deceleration/acceleration due to gravity. Again, it enhances the feel of the game when in the air, or anytime for that matter.
- The sounds are very convincing, and the 3D effects add to the illusion of reality.
- I really like the fact that the bikes aren't divided into brand-names, instead it's color and style driven. This is a Good Thing. On the other hand, having real bike brands & manufacturers would make the immersion into (virtual) reality even more convincing. But I favor your current approach.
- While I don't use the trick moves when racing, it's fun to play with them in the quarry... ;-)
- I find that you've done an excellent job of capturing the bike "responsiveness", and the bikes pretty much behave as a real dirt bike does. Good, good job of trade-offs there, guys!
I have to tear myself away from the game, when playing at night; "Come to bed, Honey!" "In a few minutes, just one more Moto, Darlin'!" ;-)
I just wanted to let you all know that I think you've done a fantastic job with this, and I predict success far beyond normal expectations for this product.
Excellent job! I'm smiling!! Kudos to All involved!!!
Thanks,
-PT
