SuperCross sensation Stephane Roncada spoke to us recently about his involvement with Motocross Madness 2. Stephane Roncada is a professional Motocross rider and races for the Yamaha of Troy team as #22. Currently the #2 ranked rider in the 125cc East SuperCross Cicuit, Stephane is one of the top contenders for the 125cc championship. He is also the co-designer for the National SuperCross tracks in Motocross Madness 2.

UPDATE: Entering into the final 125CC East Coast Supercross round, Yamaha of Troy's Roncada found himself tied in points standings with Brock Sellards of Team Honda. A tight start and first turn pile-up guaranteed an exciting race as Roncada moved in behind his teammate, Ernesto Fonseca. Roncada finished second in the final round behind Fonseca, winning overall in the points standing and securing his championship.

MCM2: How did you get involved in Motocross racing?
Stephane Roncada: When I was five my parents bought me a motorcycle for Christmas and I loved it . That's the story. Nobody in my family was into racing before me.

MCM2: How long have you been racing?
SR: Since I was five years old - 16 years now.

MCM2: Who is your role model in the Motocross world?
SR: I used to look up to Jean Michel Bayle when I was a kid, especially because he was the first rider to go race in the United States and that has been my dream since I was 10. Now I'm here and it's pretty cool!!

MCM2: Have you invented any unique stunts that other riders incorporate into their routine? If so, tell us about them.
SR: No, I race for a living ...I don't jump, but I'm very good at doing the Nac-Nac, table top and no footed can-can !!

MCM2: How did you get involved with computers?
SR: My girlfriend gave me my first laptop about 3 years ago. At that time she was better than me but now she is lost!! Since then, I've learned by myself by trying things out and spending time in front of my computer.

MCM2: How did you learn how to design tracks?
SR: I learned through the Internet community. I spent long hours on the phone with Racing Joe (he made great tracks for MCM1) and MXDirt - who is hosting www.mxmadness2.com. I have a web site myself at www.ronronmx.com where you can find lots of MCM1 and MCM2 user-created tracks.

MCM2: How did you meet up with Robb Rinard and the Rainbow crew?
SR: MXDirt , Spawnholio and Kamshaft took me to E3 last year and introduced me to Robb and the whole Motocross Madness crew.

MCM2: How have you been involved in the development of Motocross Madness 2?
SR: About a year ago, Robb came to my house to record some bike sounds for the game. While he was there, I showed him a couple of tracks that I made for MCM1. Since he liked most of the tracks he asked me if I wanted to help them design the supercross tracks. I said YES, of course!!!

MCM2: What has been your favorite aspect of working with Rainbow/Microsoft in developing this game?
SR: I always wondered how a game was made, so it was very exciting for me to work with a company that makes video games - especially motocross games. It was, and still is, a great experience for me since I learn so many new things by working with guys like Robb Rinard. It's also a very good approach for my future after motocross racing because I love working with computers and video games.

MCM2: What is your favorite new feature in Motocross Madness 2?
SR: My favorite feature is that you can now interact with all kinds of 3D objects like houses, moving vehicles, airplanes, trees and more...

MCM2: What do you think the best stunt in the game is?
SR: Heart attack and superman seat grab.

MCM2: Do you use Motocross 2 to aid in training? If so, how?
SR: No, not to aid in training. I always make the same tracks I will be racing on the next weekend and play it in MCM2 to see how the track will be...and maybe learn some new lines! Also, every time I play the game it makes me want to go out and ride because it looks so real.

MCM2: Why do fans love Motocross racing so much?
SR: Because it's fun and spectacular!

MCM2: Where do you see Motocross racing in five years?
SR: Motocross is getting bigger and bigger every year - you can see that in the number of new teams that have appeared in the industry over the last couple of years. I think it will continue to grow at that speed and will be much bigger in five years

MCM2: Why are gamers going to love this latest version of Motocross Madness 2?
SR: Because it is the most realistic motocross game ever made. Because the feelings you get when you play the game are so close to what you can feel when you ride in real life...except when you crash!! Because I, along with lots of other players, will be making tons of awesome new tracks that you will be able to play in MCM2. I could keep going for days, but I don't think you'll have the patience to read everything...so just get the game and see for yourself what the best Motocross Racing Game looks like!
