Light Cavalry

The Light Cavalry line on the offensiveLight Cavalry - Light Cavalry is a fast, fairly inexpensive unit that performs extremely well against Horse Archers. Fighting Horse Archers is of paramount importance within your borders early in the game. Horse Archers are the bane of your citizens and economy. A good opponent can drive you batty with small, multiple raids by Horse Archers around your nation. Drastically reduce the effect of such raids by always having a small force of Light Cavalry loitering around vulnerable areas.

Light Cavalry and their successors, the Armored Car line, also happen to be the fastest ground units. They are no slouches at raiding, either, and can be used to harass enemy trade routes or make quick forays into enemy territory. They also have a slight (but useful) shock value when attacking enemy light infantry and bow-armed units. And, of course, you can send them off on scouting missions. Though not as useful in this regard as Scouts (who can see further), your Light Cavalry do have the advantage of speed, which means they can scout further and faster for you.

IGN Units Showcase #7

The stable, home of Light Cavalry and, with a few upgrades, Armored Cars. Also home to Heavy Cavalry, including Tanks, and any Cavalry units unique to the Nation you're playing. This Stable is Korean.

Armored CarArmored Car - The Armored Scout Car unit is first available in the Modern Age. As a matter of fact, it is quite modern, in the sense that it is the product of a merger, in this case, between the Light Cavalry line and the Horse Archer line. There is a certain logic to the fact that the result is a fast unit that can fire on the move, thus making it an excellent raider, and not a bad counter to other Armored Cars, either.

In the Modern Age, you can build an upgraded model, the Armored Scout Car: faster, a bit stronger, and better-armored than its predecessor.

In the Information Age, you can build the Armored Cavalry Scout Car. Once Machineguns (the bane of infantry) appear, by the way, the Armored Car line is devastatingly effective against them. And you can still torment opponents with Armored Car raids deep into their territory.
