Machine GunMachine Gun - there are three generations of the Machinegun, beginning with the unit of that name, which is first available in the Industrial Age. In the Modern Age, you can upgrade to the Heavy Machinegun, and later, in the Information Age, the Advanced Machinegun. The German MG-42 is especially deadly, but available only to Germans of course.

Machineguns in Rise of Nations fulfill a role similar to that of their historic counterparts. They are extremely powerful against all foot units, and have a high rate of fire. But they are easily done away with by enemy armored vehicles of all types, so it is best to keep them in close proximity to your own tank-killers, be these Bazookas, Tank Destroyers (if you have them), or Tanks themselves.
