British: The Power of Empire

The British Commerce cap is 25% higher than normal. This means that they begin the game with an elevated cap, allowing them to jump to an early lead. In addition, the British create ships and foot archers more quickly. Their unique archer units are especially powerful against enemy heavy infantry.

Power of Empire brings a 25% increase to the Commerce cap. As the Briton, you also receive double income from Taxation. Royal Navy ships are created 33% faster than other nations' ships. Archer upgrades are free for the British player and, finally, you can purchase anti-aircraft units and buildings 25% more cheaply than everyone else; you can build them 33% faster, too.

You will probably not be surprised that the first unique British military unit is the legendary Longbow, first available during the Classical Age. This unit and its successors (King's Longbow and King's Yeomanry, first appearing on the Medieval and Gunpowder Ages respectively), are particularly deadly versus enemy Heavy Infantry units. Elective micromanagement makes the Longbow line a great raider; choose to "shoot and scoot" with them, and you can drive foes to distraction.

Highlanders and the Black Watch bolster your ground troops as well (woe betide your foe who overspends on Heavy Infantry). Highlanders come into the game in the Enlightenment Age, and the Black Watch show up in the Industrial Age.

The final British unique unit is the Modern Age Lancaster Bomber. All bombers do well against buildings - the Lancaster does better. You will find it quite a useful asset to you, both to pulverize enemy production and military facilities on the ground to decimate foes before open-field battle and to tenderize cities themselves for invasion.
