Taxation is the lucrative side of political power. Principally, you gather Wealth by establishing trade routes between your cities (the farther apart your cities, the greater your Wealth gather rate), but Taxation gives you another option.

Wealth is also gathered by increasing the percentage of the world's territory you control; the more territory you have, the more taxes you receive. Taxation can be researched at the Temple.
