Citizens
of the ancient city of Rhodes called their incredible 110-foot statue “The
lovely torch of Freedom.” The Colossus stood near the city’s harbor
entrance for just 56 years, from 282 B.C. to 226 B.C.
Build
this Wonder and you wil increase the rate at which you gather Wealth in the game.
You'll multiple the unit rate of Wealth accumulation, and be able to build more
Caravans and multiply the channels of Wealth accumulation as well. The Colossus
also allows you to have a larger population.
The population bonus offers an interesting strategic twist late in the game; if
you face a swarm of enemy units and that enemy holds the Colossus, simply destroying
this Wonder will knock his entire queue of reinforcements in production back by
a huge margin while his military adapts to the new, lower population limit.
