The Microsoft Genuine Office Offer

For those customers who have unknowingly purchased a counterfeit version of Office, Microsoft has created two genuine Office offers for those who qualify:

• Genuine Office Complimentary Offer: Microsoft will make a complimentary copy of Office Professional 2007 available for those customers who have been sold counterfeit Office. To qualify, customers will be required to submit a counterfeit report, and a high-quality counterfeit CD.
• Office Genuine Advantage Kit: For those customers who have failed Office validation and do not qualify for, or choose not to take advantage of, the complimentary offer, Microsoft will provide an Office Genuine Advantage Kit that can be purchased online. This kit will be available for the following Office editions:
• Microsoft Office Professional 2007
• Microsoft Office Small Business 2007
• Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007

Note: Not all Office 2007 editions are available in all regions.

The Genuine Office Complimentary Offer

In those cases where customers have been duped and sold a counterfeit version of Office, Microsoft is willing to provide a complimentary copy of Office Professional 2007 with no shipping or handling charges to qualifying customers.

To qualify for the complimentary offer, customers must provide the following:

• A Counterfeit Report which helps Microsoft identify the reseller and type of counterfeit software transaction that took place. This information on counterfeit sellers and their illegal practices helps Microsoft work with authorities to enforce anti-piracy policies and laws. The counterfeit report will be treated by Microsoft as confidential. The information that is required on the report is:
• Was the copy of Office pre-installed?
• Where was it purchased (Web, street vendor, store, etc)?
• What was the reseller’s name?
• Did you receive a CD and a Certificate of Authenticity (COA)?
• How much did you pay?
• What was the date of purchase?
• A Counterfeit Disc is also required to be eligible for the complimentary offer. Only counterfeit software with edge-to-edge hologram CD will be considered for the complimentary offer. Additional Details of The Genuine Office Complimentary Offer

• The copy of genuine Office you receive (Office Professional 2007) may not be the same version or edition as the counterfeit sample you submit.
• Microsoft will not bring legal action against people who participate in the genuine Office Complimentary Offer as you are victims of piracy.
• Microsoft is unable to return the CD or any of the documentation submitted.
• The genuine Office Complimentary Offer is limited to one offer per shipping address.

The Office Genuine Advantage Kit

For those customers who have failed validation and do not qualify for, or choose not to take advantage of the complimentary offer, a Office Genuine Advantage Kit is available. This kit can be purchased online for the following Office 2007 suites:

• The Microsoft Office genuine software offer is distributed by Microsoft only to qualified customers who are replacing counterfeit software. This software is not intended for resale. If you encounter any problems with your new CD, please contact Microsoft support at http://support.microsoft.com/.
• Microsoft recommends that you uninstall all Microsoft Office products that failed validation prior to installing the Microsoft Office genuine software offer. Failure to do so can result in continued validation failures, even after installing genuine Office. To review which Microsoft Office product(s) failed validation, go to http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/ and click Validate Office. On the validation failure page, the Microsoft Office product(s) listed under validation results and highlighted red have failed validation and should be removed prior to installing the Microsoft Office genuine software offer.

To remove any previously installed versions of Microsoft Office:

1. Quit all Office programs.
2. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
3. Double-click Add or Remove Programs. (For Windows Vista, under Programs, click uninstall a program.)
4. In the Currently installed programs list, locate and click the previously installed products from the XP, 2003, and 2007 releases that failed validation.
5. Click Remove to remove the product(s) that you want to uninstall from the computer. (For Windows Vista, right-click product(s) and choose Uninstall.)
• Locate your 25-character product key inside of the DVD case, below the installation disc, and launch the software installed on your personal computer. Follow the on-screen instructions and complete the activation process.
