Yasser Hassan is a Microsoft Government Industry Director overlooking and supporting government industry business and strategy in Middle East and Africa (MEA). He is directly responsible for Microsoft’s government industry in MEA, one of thirteen areas that comprise Microsoft’s worldwide operations. The area represents one of Microsoft’s fastest growing and dynamic markets and certainly its most diverse one. Microsoft MEA operates through 32 offices and covers 79 countries across three continents.
He is responsible to develop, set, and deliver a clear end-to-end business strategy across sales teams to drive the government sector. Throughout his seventeen year career in the IT industry, Yasser has held different technical, sales, and managerial roles in different parts of the Middle East and in Europe with companies including Digital, Siemens, IBM and finally Microsoft Corporation.
Yasser joined Microsoft in April 2003 as the Sales Industry Manager of Microsoft Egypt. After a successful three years in that role, he assumed other responsibilities for the area of Central Eastern Europe.
In May 2009, Yasser was assigned as the Director for Government for Microsoft Middle East and Africa region. In this role, he led the efforts to realize $450 million dollar business double digit growth for each of the past two years in one of the most diverse and complex regions in the world.
Yasser grew up and lived in France and Egypt. He worked in Egypt and Sweden, and currently lives in Dubai, UAE.
Yasser graduated from the Faculty of Engineering, Cairo University, majoring in communication and electronics. He is married and has two daughters. He loves the IT industry and its impact on empowering people and transforming industries. He is passionate about the future of people in emerging markets. He also enjoys music, reading, and the occasional round of golf.
