Security of Windows Azure vetted by federal board
30 September 2013 | Joel Cherkis, General Manager, Worldwide Government
Today marks an important day here at Microsoft. Microsoft’s cloud infrastructure and Windows
Azure public cloud solution is the first joint infrastructure and platform
cloud solution to receive a Provisional Authority to Operate from the FedRAMP Joint Authorization
The JAB is comprised of representatives from the Department of Defense, the Department of Homeland Security, and the U.S. General Services
Having a P-ATO from this group ensures that when government agencies
have a need for an IaaS or PaaS cloud service, they know that people at the top
have already vetted Microsoft’s cloud technology and given them the green light
to use Azure from a security perspective.
This eases the process for obtaining Federal contracts.
