It’s an incredibly challenging time for public sector organizations around the world. The European debt crisis has forced many EU nations, and others, to implement their largest defense spending cuts in years and left leaders struggling to find ways to limit the impact on national security and public safety. Governments have the enormous responsibility to protect their citizens at the same time they are being confronted with unprecedented budget, policy and service delivery pressures.
At the same time, however, technology innovation has become an increasingly valuable method for meeting these demands – tools and solutions for cloud, big data, cyber security, emergency response and more have helped better protect global citizens while also maximizing efficiency and cost savings across the public sector.
This is why I’m looking forward to the upcoming Microsoft Industry Solutions University (ISU) FY13 EMEA conference, which will be held this week in Rome from October 9-10. This type of global event is critical to continued success in national defense and safety throughout Europe, the Middle East and Africa, and around the world as Microsoft thought leaders, innovators, partners and customers come together to discuss how technology solutions can make a real impact for better public safety.
Executives including Joe Macri, Vice President of EMEA Public Sector at Microsoft, and Microsoft Worldwide PSNS General Manager Mark Whittington will showcase the ways Microsoft solutions, including the highly anticipated Windows 8 OS—can provide increased mobility, security and manageability for public safety and national security organizations. We hope you’ll stay tuned for news and updates from ISU as our teams work together to increase collaboration, strengthen capabilities and build a more secure future for our global citizens.
