How you can become a Dynamic Government

03 June 2013 | Kirsten Edmondson Wolfe, Global Industry Director for Public Sector for Microsoft Business Solutions

Since my November post on next-generation enterprise resource planning (ERP) software, Microsoft launched a great new version of its ERP platform—Dynamics AX 2012 R2. A recent Touch Magazine article profiles this powerful government transformation software, and I’d like to share a few of the highlights with you. For more details, check out the full article, “Dynamic Government.”

Modernizing government

When I say “Dynamic Government,” what comes to mind? I envision an organization—local, regional, or national— that is quick, agile, and forward-thinking. Its employees are invested in the agency’s service mission. Through technology like Dynamics AX, the leaders have uncovered the insights held within vast data stores, so that people at every level are equipped to meet any challenge. My colleague, Michele Bedford Thistle, discussed this recently in her blog, Are you the government of the future?

Empowering employees

Using Dynamics AX is one way to become a Dynamic Government—one in which people at every level are empowered to excel. Integrated into the Microsoft stack, Dynamics AX gives everyone in your organization the tools, insights, and real-time information they need to make faster, better decisions—and do their best work. It also gives them a familiar interface to use, whether they’re on a desktop or mobile device, empowering them to do field work, in the field. Unifying data

Dynamics AX is a unified platform that integrates directly with Dynamics CRM. That means your workforce can access all the information they need in one place. You’ll reap a number of rewards from a unified approach: You’ll modernize your workplace, operate transparently, meet compliance requirements, and maintain fiscal accountability more easily than ever before.

Personalizing processes

Dynamics AX is designed specifically for governments worldwide. This means it’s tailored to project accounting, supply chain management, grant management, and many other processes that are unique to your organization. In your mission to be more responsive to your citizens—to become a Dynamic Government—personalized ERP software is a must.
