is the Worldwide Managing Director – Traffic & Public Transportation at
Microsoft. With more than 30 years of worldwide experience in the IT industry,
Madrid advises governments on proven technology strategies to transform citizen
services and shape more connected and efficient government systems.
Microsoft in 2003 as the Public Sector Director for Brazil, and thereafter
moved to the USA to become Microsoft’s Chief Technology Officer for the Latin
America Region. In 2007 he was appointed as the Worldwide Director for the
Government Interoperability Initiative. In early 2010, he became the Senior
Director for WW Technology Office Strategy and in 2012 was appointed Managing
Director for Traffic & Public Transportation.
Madrid holds a BSc in engineering from the Polytechnic
School - University of São Paulo, where he also completed his MSc work in
Calculus. He has published three books and several articles about the impact of
technology on society.
