With the release of Windows 8 coming ever closer, we can hardly contain our excitement for the debut! And, we know many in the tech community are also eagerly anticipating the release. There are so many features that we love about Windows 8. From its reimagined operating system design to its emphasis on a fluid, touch-enabled user interface experience across a variety of devices including phones, tablets and PCs, the reinvented Windows 8 is a bold step forward for our company.
Likewise, we are just as excited by the new capabilities that Windows 8 has in store for our government customers. Here are just a few reasons why we believe our government customers worldwide will love what they see in Windows 8:
1. Supporting new ways of working
Today’s government workforce is increasingly mobile, and workers now count on having support for a flexible work style, both in terms of on-the-go productivity and having a consistent work experience from any device. With Windows 8, this is exactly the focus of our new operating system. Whether government employees are working from their tablet, laptop or Windows phone, they will have the same intuitive experience to carry out their daily work. That includes having support for a consistent, touch-enabled experience, as well as access to their data and apps from any Windows-based device.
As recently highlighted at the 2012 Black Hat Conference (@BlackHatEvents), Windows 8 is not only a huge evolution in terms of look and feel, but the security behind the product is equally impressive. For our government customers, Windows 8 represents an assurance that their mission-critical infrastructure and information is protected—from end to end. Check out this recent article to learn what security researchers at Black Hat had to say about Windows 8.
3. Unified administration of all devices
As more government employees are bringing personal devices to work, being able to manage this diverse—and mobile—hardware footprint is especially critical. The great news about Windows 8 is that it takes a great deal of complexity out of this process, enabling government administrators to manage these devices within a centralized environment. That includes being able to provide end users with access to their data and apps on any device and having the ability to manage Windows PC and tablet users from the cloud.
These are just a few of the reasons why we love Windows 8 for government. Be sure to check back soon for more updates on Windows 8 on the road to launch. Want to know what the Windows 8 experience looks like? Click here to see.
