Last week, as part of the 4th Annual Virtual Government Summit, Microsoft announced the appointment of Michael Donlan to Vice President of the company’s State and Local Government business. In his new role, Donlan will be helping U.S. State and Local Government organizations move into a new era of citizen services as they maximize the capabilities of technology investments, reduce overall costs, and boost productivity. While this isn’t his first role at Microsoft – Donlan was previously the General Manager of Government, National Security & Technology for Microsoft Worldwide Public Sector – the announcement did draw some excitement from a variety of high-profile publications including Politico, the Bellevue Business Journal and the Washington Business Journal.
Donlan is a recognized leader around cloud computing for the public sector and frequently speaks at industry events. On his new role, Donlan has said, “It is simultaneously an exciting and challenging time for Government and I look forward to partnering with our State and Local Government customers to impact and improve the missions they commit to every day.”
