Carlos Allende

Public Sector Director, Microsoft México

Carlos oversees Microsoft’s public sector business in Mexico. In this role, he works with organizations at the federal, state, and municipal level to realize greater value and cost savings with technology. Prior to this position he was Vice President and General Manager for Unisys Mexico for four years, having repositioned the company as a reliable supplier for corporate, business, and government sectors.

Carlos has more than 20 years of experience in the IT industry, having held important executive positions at IBM, Compaq, and HP.

He has had relevant positions as a representative of the IT industry both nationally and globally, having been President of the Board of Directors at AMITI (Mexican Information Technology Industry Association, A.C.), Vice President of IT at CANIETI (National Chamber of Electronic Industry, Telecommunications and Information Technologies) and Vice Chairman, Latin American Region at WITSA (World IT and Services Alliance). Most recently, he led the IT industry group that developed the National Digital Agenda.

In the field of social responsibility, he is founder and board member of the ISI (Institute for Security on the Internet), a civil association that seeks to protect minors from exposure to inappropriate material on the internet.

As entrepreneur, he has participated in the founding and operation of several small and medium size businesses. He currently serves as member of the board and president of IT Committee at Crediamigo.

In addition to the above, Carlos has taught leadership for business management at ITESM Santa Fe Campus. He has participated as a speaker at the American Chamber of Commerce, ITESM Cuernavaca Campus, ITESM Mexico City Campus, the Lebanese Centre, the Mexican Institute of Certified Public Accountants, CANIETI, CANACINTRA and TEDx Laguna among others. He has combined these activities with bullfighting, and as a writer and commentator in print media and radio.

He holds an Electronic Systems Engineer Bachelors Degree for the Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey (Cuernavaca Campus), and an MBA for the same Institute (Mexico City Campus). He also has postgraduate studies in banking and finance for ITAM and ICAF, the Executive Development Program at Northwestern University, the Executive Program at Instituto Panamericano de Alta Dirección de Empresas (IPADE) and the General Management  Program for the University of Pennsylvania.
