Microsoft, NYPD team up on global counterterrorism solution

Countries around the world face unprecedented national security threats today, but technology can play a critical role in helping organizations mitigate these threats. To help improve public safety for citizens globally, Microsoft has teamed up with the New York Police Department (@NYPDnews) to develop a technology that can help detect – and prevent – potential threats.

The sophisticated solution called Domain Awareness System (DAS) will feature the use of artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities to analyze video, public safety data and other situational awareness information in real time to proactively identify potential terrorist threats and protect critical infrastructure. In a unique effort to share best practices, Microsoft and the NYPD will make the DAS solution available to a broad global set of cities and jurisdictions.
