Inside Barcelona: A future city shares its secrets

20 November 2013 | Joel Cherkis, General Manager, Worldwide Government

I’m excited to be here in the visionary city of Barcelona, Spain, where the Smart City Expo is in full swing. A world pioneer, Barcelona is the perfect host for three days of talks, panels, presentations, and exhibitions on innovation in cities—and how it can change the world.

As a Microsoft CityNext showcase city, Barcelona is also the perfect launching point for our cities initiative in Western Europe, and a prime example of how innovative technologies and partnerships can transform cities into better places to live and work.

I encourage you to read more about this model city’s success on the Microsoft Europe Supporting Cities Hub. There, you’ll learn how Barcelona is reinventing itself with modern infrastructure, data initiatives, cloud services, and devices to realize its vision of becoming one of the world’s most intelligent cities.

Don’t forget to follow all of the happenings in Barcelona at #CityNext. I know I will be.
