Innovative public safety solution launches in India and Southeast Asia

An emerging type of intelligence center known as a “fusion center” plays an essential role recently in protecting citizens around the world today. Fusion centers serve as local/regional hubs for collecting, managing and analyzing massive amounts of law enforcement data, with the responsibility for transforming that information into actionable intelligence. In support of this essential public safety mission, Microsoft teamed up with GIS leader Esri to create Fusion Core Solution (FCS) – a simple-to-use, easily configurable set of tools that intelligence, law enforcement, and defense agencies can leverage to streamline the management and analysis of this critical public safety data.

Earlier this month, a group of customers and partners joined Microsoft and Esri at two multi-day events introducing FCS to public safety and homeland security professionals in Southeast Asia and India. There was tremendous enthusiasm for the platform’s ability to enhance information sharing and security by helping agencies move data seamlessly from intake to analysis to dissemination in a multiple-agency, multilevel environment. With an FCS framework in place, these public safety organizations can more effectively detect, prevent, and deter threats posed by organized crime, gangs, drug cartels, and terrorists while also strengthening the ability of governmental agencies to prepare for and respond to natural disasters and other events.

FCS is already deployed is many agencies in the U.S., but this marks its first availability to India and Southeast Asia. International partners from Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, and Sri Lanka joined representatives from multiple government homeland security and defense agencies, industry, academia and the NGO community on April 30 for an exciting day of launch activities. An equally impressive crowd gathered for a two-day event in New Delhi on May 2-3 to launch FCS in the Indian market. Customers and partners from various public safety and national security organizations across India met to discuss how this unique solution can help agencies take proactive action to prepare for and respond to crises, and to counter potential threats and criminal activities.

The Fusion Core Solution is available to these new markets in two configurations: FCS 360, a custom FCS solution that can be delivered by a Microsoft Consulting Team with the help of a local integrator, or the government Community Edition (FCS CE), which enables customers and partners to deploy the solution independently. Both options integrate the robust capabilities of Microsoft SharePoint Server and Esri ArcGIS Advanced Enterprise Server to provide enhanced intelligence and information sharing that can result in more effective and efficient public safety and homeland security operations.
