What is mean by existing PCs?

Fully assembled PCs that are currently installed in an organization.


Is OEM software a Legalization/FAQ option for existing PCs?

No, OEM is not a legalization option for existing PCs. OEM can only be purchased pre-installed with New PCs and it is only intended to be sold to manufacturers or system builders who are building machines for their customers; end users should not buy OEM system builder software. What is mis-licensing?

Mis-licensing occurs when customers use their Volume License agreements to install the initial Windows License or when customers acquire COEM license to legalize existing or installed software.


What is the most effective way to acquire a full version on Windows?

The best and most effective way to acquire Windows software is preinstalled in a new PC


What about customer who already have illegal copies of on currently used machines?

Customers who have PCs with a previously installed counterfeit, pirated, or otherwise illegal or unlicensed copy of Windows XP Professional should legalize through: Get Genuine Kit: GGK is available for resellers to order from an authorized Microsoft OEM Distributor in packs of 1 or 10 licenses, Get Genuine Windows Agreement: for customers who want to acquire Windows XP Professional licenses through Volume Licensing


If customers sell or retire a desktop machine can they transfer the OEM License to a new PC?

No. OEM operating system licenses live and die with each PC- they are not transferable.


What about Office, can customer buy OEM to legalize Office?

No. Customers who require to legalize the Office software cannot do so through purchase of OEM software. They have to legalize through Volume License Programs or through Retail Packages only.
