Agthia Group PJSC is a publicly listed leading Food and Beverages company, head quartered in Abu Dhabi, UAE. It comprises of three subsidiaries and has a strategic indent of diversifying and to evolve as a dynamic leading company in the Consumer packaged Goods Industry. Agthia is a multi product line consumer goods company with interests in pure bottled water, flour, animal feed, tomato paste & frozen vegetable processing and canning. It has a strategic vision to be the best food & beverage Company of the UAE. To realize its vision, Agthia is expanding its footprint in the regional market faster, it adopted various geographical expansion and strategic acquisition plans; the latest initiative being the establishment of a tomato processing plant in Egypt. With the prospect of new acquisitions the likelihood is that it would become increasingly more difficult to control the workflow and have full visibility of their information. Therefore it was extremely important to streamline the business processes across the existing and newly acquired companies; reduce operating costs and have an enterprise wide integrated solution to meet challenging business requirements.


With multiple product lines, numerous group companies and distributed business operations, it became increasingly tedious for Agthia to manage and run its businesses on different systems. The company had disparate technology infrastructure and used homegrown non integrated legacy systems. As a result, Agthia struggled to keep track of manufacturing costs, accurate customer orders and company transactions, logistics and reports. With departments working as separate islands, financial reporting and data sharing across business units became time consuming and the management of Agthia were left without a real-time view of sales orders and financial reports. Therefore, the management at Agthia started investigating new business solutions and evaluated many competitive offerings. With the history of three failed ERP implementations in the past and the need to support different business lines across multiple products, the team was looking for a robust, fully integrated and easy to use system that would provide real time business intelligence to enable rapid decision making.


Microsoft Dynamics NAV was chosen as the best fit for their business needs, surpassing other competitive products on flexibility, scalability, and Total Cost of Ownership (TCO). Microsoft Dynamics NAV has proven to be a powerful solution for Agthia that has been tailored to its business needs at an affordable price. The solution enables streamlining supply chain and plant manufacturing processes to make optimal use of manufacturing capacity, procured materials, finished product inventories, and market demand. It also integrates multiple facilities and departments by delivering a single, real-time view into all manufacturing, sales, procurement, and financial activity using familiar applications that are readily available globally. Agthia worked with Infosys Technologies Ltd. (a Microsoft Global Systems Integration Partner) to deploy the Microsoft Dynamics NAV solution. Agthia Management reengineered their business processes based on benchmarked global practices. By leveraging Infosys' Global Delivery Model approach, expertise and knowledge of packaged applications, they implemented Microsoft Dynamics NAV at Agthia's headquarters in Abu Dhabi and its various subsidiaries. The implementation commenced in March 2007 and ran in parallel at Agthia's two manufacturing units. Subsequent to the successful implementation of Dynamics NAV in Dec 2007 and migration of business information to the new solution, employees undertook training conducted by Infosys. By using the power of base Microsoft Dynamics NAV solution, Agthia is now better prepared to meet its global expansion plans.   • Unified chart of accounts and dimensions have helped in quicker month end closing and better management reporting. The time taken to map month end activities and financial closing reports has been cut down from three weeks to two days
  • The implementation prompted the introduction of standard costing, allowing for better utilization of resources and increased efficiency in logistics and manufacturing processes
  • Microsoft Dynamics has increased overall efficiency and resource utilization by eliminating data duplication and manual errors that occurred while using the legacy system

  • Agthia now has improved financial control through online credit check functionality targeting bad debts
  • The company has increased control over their sales operations through daily profitability reporting by item, area, salesperson and product groups
  • It has also standardized vendor and customer codes across the group companies which helped reducing cost.
