How do I position the LifeCam webcam?

Install the LifeCam software and connect the LifeCam webcam to a USB port. Use the following guidelines and the LifeCam video preview on your screen to help you aim and position the webcam correctly.

  • Position the LifeCam on top of your flat-screen monitor or on a flat surface, such as a desk or table top, where it will not wobble or be knocked over.
  • Adjust the LifeCam to be level with your face and approximately one arm's length away from you. Depending on the LifeCam model you have, you may be able to swivel the webcam up and down and side to side.
  • If your LifeCam has autofocus capability, it may take a few seconds to focus clearly.
  • If you are using a LifeCam VX-1000, VX-3000, or VX-6000 webcam, twist the focus ring on the front of the LifeCam to focus the live streaming video.
  • In the LifeCam preview window, make sure that the lighting is adequate to show your subject.

If you have installed the LifeCam software, you can use the LifeCam video preview on your screen to help you to fine-tune the camera angle, field of view, and focus.
