Microphone issues

If you are having trouble with your microphone features, the following information can help you troubleshoot and resolve issues.

Others cannot hear me.

Try the following solutions:

  • If your headset has a Mute button, make sure it is not active.
  • Make sure that the headset is connected correctly to your computer.
  • Make sure that the Microsoft LifeChat Headset is the system default recording device.
    For information on how to set system defaults using the Windows Control Panel, see your Windows documentation.

Others cannot hear me in Windows Live Messenger calls.

Make sure that the Microsoft LifeChat Headset is the Windows Live Messenger default recording device.

  1. Open Windows Live Messenger.
  2. On the Tools menu, click Audio and Video setup, and then click Next.
  3. In the Speaker Setup menu, select Microsoft LifeChat Headset and click Next.
  4. In the Microphone Setup menu, select Microsoft LifeChat Headset, click Next, and then click Finish.

The microphone volume is too low.

Try the following solutions:

  • Increase the volume of your microphone.
  • Make sure that the headset is connected correctly to your computer.
  • Make sure that the microphone is positioned correctly.
Microsoft
