Mark Day

General Manager, Local, Municipal Government, Health & Education Microsoft Corporation

As General Manager of our Local, Municipal, Government, Health & Education business, Mark oversees our global business strategy with more than 300 field people worldwide to accelerate our continued growth of a more than $2.5B business across more than 500k customers.  Mark is deeply focused on helping our Public Sector customers gain the right solutions from our partners to drive down the cost of government, reduce the cost of care and help create a richly connected student to teacher learning environment. 

Most recently, Mark served as our Managing Director for Public Health and Social Services globally at Microsoft driving our global business strategy to help our public and private sector customers build a healthier and more productive population while helping to reduce the cost of healthcare through our partner solutions.  Of primary strategic focus in this vertical is to help customers securely leverage the power of big data, improve case and outreach management and engage the public to encourage better personal health and wellness. 

With more than 20 years of experience in the technology industry spanning both private and public sector product management and business consulting, Mark has served in a variety of roles at Microsoft in his nearly 10 year tenure and 10 years previously as a Microsoft partner.   Most recently, Mark served as our Government, Public Safety and Defense Industry Marketing Director Worldwide.   Mark has also served as the New England Area Sales Manager in Boston managing our Microsoft Dynamics business in the US focusing on Enterprise Resource Planning and Customer Relationship Management.  Mark has a strong passion for business applications and continues to work very closely with these partners around the globe.  Mark has also been a Group Product Manager in our US Microsoft Office Division and began his career at Microsoft as a Business Productivity Advisor in 2003 out of our Denver office, helping medium and large customers maximize operational efficiency and improve workforce productivity.

Prior to joining Microsoft in 2003, Mark served as CEO and founder of Winfield Allen – one of the first Microsoft Gold solution and systems integration partners.  Founded in 1992, Winfield Allen started in Denver and maintained regional offices across the Western US focusing on professional services, process manufacturing, mining, financial services and primary healthcare.  Mark resides in Seattle and holds his Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Colorado State University.  Mark is also an avid back country skier, outdoor enthusiast and actively supports a number of philanthropies in Colorado.
