The Microsoft® Partners in Learning Summer Yuannan Study Tour with the theme "Microsoft Technology, Education and Life Experience Camp" was hosted from July 27 to August 1, 2006. More than 70 students and teachers from Malaysia, Taiwan and Hong Kong selected from Partners in Learning program joined the event.

Exciting programs for the trip are summarized below:

Day 1Tour members got to know each other during the Welcome Dinner. They were divided into different groups for the ice-breaking game through which participants quickly got along with others.
Day 2Students and teachers first visited the Yuannan Normal University, where a professor explained how IT applies in teaching. Participants then visited Aidi Technology in Kunming and had a discussion with its staff, getting to know more about the local market development. In the evening, the Malaysian students hosted the "Culture Night" and introduced Malaysian traditions and pop cultures.
Day 3Participants visited the Kunming No.11 High School and the High School Affiliated to Yuannan Normal University. Local students demonstrated their self-developed "Mobile Short Message for Intelligence Logistics Management System". Taiwan students hosted the "Culture Night" in the evening, letting others develop a deeper understanding on the landscape and features in different regions of Taiwan.
Day 4Tour members visited Shilin and the Yuannan Ethnic Minority Village to enjoy the renowned scenic beauty and learn the local customs there. Hosted by the Hong Kong team, the last "Culture Night" was a drama show and special cultural characteristics of Hong Kong were introduced.
Day 5Series of student presentations were given on that day, sharing students' experience gained from the trip and their creative ideas on "School of Future".
Day 6Students and teachers visited the hearing-impaired children in the Panlung Speech Training School for the Deaf in Yuannan. Eight notebook computers sponsored by Hewlett-Packard HK SAR Limited were presented to the school. Leveraging on their own IT knowledge, our trip members taught the hearing-impaired students how to get online, send and receive email and use application software, including Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint and Paint.
Through the above exchanges and visits, participants went beyond their limitations into a broader horizon, while unleashing their potential in order to contribute themselves to the society by giving a hand to those in need. The culture nights hosted by students from Malaysia, Taiwan and Hong Kong not only let the participants know more about the traditional and pop cultures in different countries, but also allowed them to fully utilize their creativity and potential.
