The rise in cyber-attack has become increasingly serious these days which turned into an international issue. How can we make sure this trend causes no harm to individuals and businesses? Microsoft and Cyberport will be holding the “2013 Worldwide Cyber-security Landscape Forum” at the International IT Fest on April 18, 2013 (Thursday), to discuss the threats that software vulnerabilities and exploits, malicious code and potentially unwanted software present to internet users, consumers and commercial entities.

Microsoft has recently completed “The Security Intelligence Report” to analyze the threat landscape of exploits, vulnerabilities, and malware, based on data from Internet services and over 600 million computers worldwide. At the forum, Mr. Tim Rains, Director of Microsoft Trustworthy Computing, will deliver a keynote based on the data and findings of “The Security Intelligence Report” and share the latest trends in cyber-security threats.

Keynote

Tim Rains

Director, Trustworthy Computing Group, Microsoft

Tim Rains is a Director in Microsoft’s Trustworthy Computing group responsible for managing marketing and communications that span Microsoft’s boxed and cloud products as they relate to security, privacy and reliability.

Tim’s team manages marketing and communications for the Microsoft Security Response Center (MSRC), the Microsoft Malware Protection Center (MMPC), and the Microsoft Security Engineering Center (MSEC) which includes the Security Development Lifecycle (SDL) and Security Science. Among other things, his team manages the Microsoft Security Intelligence Report (www.microsoft.com/sir) which provides an in-depth analysis on the global threat landscape.

In his early years at Microsoft, Tim served in several roles including Program Manager in the Windows Networking team – Core Operating Systems Division, Technical Lead on the Security Incident Response team in the Product Support Services (PSS) Security team and Technical Lead on the PSS Windows Server Networking team.

Tim’s background early on set the foundation that led to roles including Senior Public Relations Manager of Security Response, Senior Product Manager of the Microsoft Malware Protection Center and more recently the Director of Product Management within Trustworthy Computing.

Tim earned a Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) at Seattle University and a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree at the University of Alberta. Tim also holds several technical certifications including CISSP, MCSE, MCSA, including a Computer Systems Technology diploma from the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology.

The Honorable Charles Mok

Legislative Councillor (Information Technology), HKSAR

Mr. Charles Mok is the Legislative Councillor representing the Information Technology Functional Constituency of the Hong Kong SAR.

Charles is well known as one of the ICT industry leaders and Internet pioneers in Hong Kong, and one of the most out-spoken IT professionals who advocates the application of ICT in the Hong Kong community. He is the Honorary President of the Hong Kong Information Technology Federation and the Former Chairman of the Hong Kong Internet Service Providers Association. In 2006, he co-founded the Internet Society Hong Kong, the local chapter of Internet Society, the global technology and advocacy body for the Internet.

Internationally, Charles served as the Chairman of the Asian, Australasian and Pacific Islands Regional At-Large Organization (APRALO), Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) from 2011 to 2012.

Further to his work in ICT, Charles is active in public services with a view to uphold and safeguard the core values of Hong Kong of which include democracy, liberty, human rights, rule of law and integrity. He serves as a member of the Digital 21 Strategy Advisory Committee, Consultation Panel of the West Kowloon Cultural District Authority and, CreateSmart Initiative Vetting Committee. He is an elected member of the Election Committee (IT Subsector) since 1998. As regards to his engagement in the civil society, Charles is the Chairman of the Professional Commons, a cross-sector professional think tank. He is also a member of the Management Committee of Cyber Senior Network Development Association and, a director of Hong Kong Democratic Foundation.

Besides the legislature and his public and community services, Charles is a director of two ICT companies.

Charles graduated from the Purdue University in the United States with his Master degree of Science in Electrical Engineering and his Bachelor degree of Science in Computer and Electrical Engineering.

Fong Po Kiu, Francis

President of Hong Kong Information Technology Federation (HKITF)

Mr. FONG Po Kiu, Francis, aged 44, joined Synergy Technologies (Asia) Limited in 1994, and is currently the General Manager of the Company.

He graduated from Hong Kong Polytechnic (now Hong Kong Polytechnic University) and is now the Fellowship Member of The Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators, United Kingdom (FCIS) and Fellowship Member of The Hong Kong Institute of Company Secretaries (FCS).

During his 20 years in ICT Industry, he had introduced a lot of pioneering products and technologies (like 56K Modem, PDA, Wi-Fi, Smartphone, Slingbox, Lytro, etc) into Hong Kong and set the milestones for the Company in Hong Kong ICT Sector.

He is now the Member of Electoral Conference for the election of Hong Kong Deputies to the 11th National People's Congress of the People's Republic of China; the Member of HKSAR Election Committee, Information Technology Subsector (2006-2016); the Chairman of Electronics & Communication Industry Safety and Health Committee, Occupational Safety and Health Council (OSHC); the Co-opted Member of the IT Expert Advisory Group of The Consumer Council; Member of Telecommunications Users and Consumers Advisory Committee, Office of the Communications Authority (OFCA); Member of Design, Marketing and Licensing Services Advisory Committee, Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC); Member of the E-logistics Project Group, Hong Kong Logistics Development Council (LOGSCOUNCIL); the Founding Member of IT Voice and is also the Strategic Member of The Professional Commons.& Community TV.

Anthony Fung

Senior Regional Digital Crime Unit Manager, Greater China Region, Microsoft

As Senior Regional Digital Crime Unit Manager in Microsoft Greater China Region, Anthony is responsible for building an effective Internet investigation capability in the Asia Pacific Region. Anthony joined Microsoft in 2004 and has been instrumental in helping build several programs aimed at bridging the divide between the corporate world and law enforcement.

Being a founding member and a distinguished 13-year veteran at the Technology Crime Division in the Hong Kong Police Force, Anthony is credited with helping to shape the capability of the Police Force in combating the emerging threat of IT crime.

Between 2006 and 2009, he was a committee member of the Cloud Security Alliance (HK/Macau chapter). He has given university lectures on computer security and presentations to government departments and large corporations on computer security and threat assessments.

Anthony holds a Master’s Degree in Internet Computing, and is certified in Microsoft Certified System Engineering (MCSE), CISSP, Computer Forensics and Computer Crimes Investigation. Anthony was also the first Vice President of High Tech Crime Investigators Association (HTCIA) Asia Pacific.

Roy Ko

Centre Manager, the Computer Emergency Response Team Co-ordination Centre (HKCERT)

Mr. Roy Ko is a principal consultant with the IT Industry Development Division of the Hong Kong Productivity Council. He is currently responsible for providing consultancy services in software quality, process improvement and information security areas. At present, Mr. Ko is also working as the centre manager the Computer Emergency Response Team Co-ordination Centre (HKCERT) in Hong Kong, aiming at providing computer-related incident response and assistance to the general public.

Mr. Ko is a Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) and a Certified Information Security Manager (CISM). He holds a Bachelor degree in Economics and a Master of Science degree in Software Engineering.

 

 

Antony Ma

Chairman of Cloud Security Alliance (Hong Kong & Macau Chapter)

Antony Ma has over 12 years experience in the IT industry taking roles in different areas including software development, IT auditing and IT security. Antony has professional qualifications including CISSP, CISA, Oracle DBA and BS7799 ISMS assessor. Antony graduated from the Faculty of Law at the University of Hong Kong and received a LLM in Intellectual Property & Information Technology Law.

Antony served as Chairman of Professional Information Security Association (PISA) from 2009 to 2010.

His current positions include:

  • Chairman of Cloud Security Alliance (Hong Kong & Macau Chapter)
  • Convenor of HK OGCIO Working Group on Cloud Security and Privacy
  • Hong Kong delegate to ISO SC 27 committee, which drafts security standards like ISO27001.
