Microsoft Imagine Cup 2007 -The world's premier student technology competition is here again to encourage talented young people to apply their imagination, their passion and their creativity to technology innovations that can make a difference in today's world.

The Imagine Cup 2007 Final Presentation and Award Ceremony was held on 25th May! The theme for this year¡¦s competition was ¡§Imagine a world where technology enables a better education for all. ¡¨After an intense final round of competition, the Masters team from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University emerged as champion. They will represent Hong Kong in competition with winning teams from 100 other countries at the worldwide Imagine Cup Software Design finals in Seoul, Korea in early August.

This year, more than 130 registrants entered the competition and the top 3 teams demonstrated their projects to a distinguished panel of judges comprising representatives from Microsoft and other technology leaders:

It was also our great honor to welcome Dr. Zhang Ya-Qin, President of Microsoft China Research and Development, as our special guest at the event. Dr. Zhang shared with us how Microsoft supports innovation and local software industry growth in China and how MS (China) R&D had helped to transform education by creating many IT job opportunities.

Project Summary: The project employs Radio Frequency IDentification (RFID) and mobile technology to make teachers and learners interacting among the living environment through identifying learning objects, delivering dynamic learning contents, locating students¡¦ position and hence building a context aware learning.

Team Name: MotiVision
Project Name: Interactive Civic Education Platform
School: The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology
Project Summary: The project is a real-time interactive motion tracking and gesture recognition system that allows the public to communicate and
interact with the education system.
2nd Runner-up
Team Name: Boozer
Project Name: Billy
School: Hong Kong Baptist University
Project Summary: The project provides a platform that allows students and teachers to interact more easily through handwriting input devices and pocket PCs.
