Are you a system builder wishing to view distribution territory information?

How can I tell if my geographically restricted software is genuine?

To find out if your geographically restricted Microsoft software is genuine, compare its packaging to the packaging described below.

Activation Restrictions
Packaging

Microsoft adjusts product offerings in certain regions to cater to the needs of customers in these regions. In order to effectively do this, Microsoft offers specific packaging that clearly specifies these restrictions. Geographically restricted versions of Windows may only be distributed in specific locations. These regional versions must be activated in the region for which the product was intended.

To confirm that your product is a regionally restricted version of Windows, look for the “Activation Restrictions” notice on the front of the packaging.

For more information on identifying specific anti-piracy features of Windows media and packaging, view the Windows Comparison Guide.
