The Saudi Ministry of Justice (MOJ) needed a resilient and scalable data warehouse to support the modernization of courts administration and notaries who act in non-contentious matters. It chose Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Enterprise data management software and interrelated technologies. Eventually, 500 internal entities will connect to the data warehouse. Studio Moderna is a rapidly growing, multichannel retailer. Its call centers scattered across Europe serve an increasing number of customers, driving up storage requirements. At headquarters, developers had nowhere to store their data other than on their PCs. Studio Moderna solved these issues by using the File and Storage Services feature in the Windows Server 2012 operating system. The company saved 50 percent of the costs required to expand its storage area network solution for the developers. It opted to store 30 terabytes of data on Windows file shares running as virtual machines in an active-active file server cluster and reduced latency by 15 percent. IT staffers are saving 50 percent of their time managing this cost-effective storage solution, and Studio Moderna is using it as a standard, scalable storage model that it can deploy at all its data centers.

The leading mobile communications provider in Turkey, Turkcell needed to upgrade its infrastructure to accommodate growing data volumes generated by customers using smartphones and tablet PCs after the launch of 3G services. Turkcell decided to support the growth in data usage by investing in Windows Server 2008 R2 Datacenter with Hyper-V. This gives the firm a highly cost-effective alternative hypervisor solution to its incumbent virtualization solution platform. Up to 400 virtual machines—one third of the total at Turkcell—have now been provisioned with Hyper-V for existing Windows-based servers with the help of HP and Microsoft Partner ADEO IT Consulting Services. The firm has also decided that all new Windows-based servers will be provisioned with Hyper-V. The solution is highly reliable and available, scaling easily to meet peaks in customer demand for data services.

DATEV, one of the leading IT service providers for tax advisers, auditors, and attorneys in Germany, intended to deliver hosted cloud-based Microsoft solutions to its 39,000 customers. DATEV is now offering hosted Microsoft Office 2010 to replace an earlier version of Microsoft Office software to 1,000 of its 39,000 customers that have already moved to the private cloud. DATEV is considering adding other hosted services, including Microsoft Lync 2010 and the Windows Azure cloud operating system.
