Bank IT Group Builds Private Cloud, Gains More Agile IT with Automated Virtualization
IT-CE, the IT division of the Caisses d’Epargne Regional Savings Bank, manages 30 million transactions a day and 3 billion web connections a year for 27 million customers. As the market demanded faster service, IT-CE wanted to avoid spending resources
to purchase and configure new servers for every project. In 2012, it implemented a private cloud infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) solution based on Hyper-V virtualization technology and Windows Server 2008 R2. IT-CE used a Microsoft System Center portal
to automate virtual-server provisioning, installation, and configuration. It wanted to build a private cloud of 3,700 virtual machines, and working with Microsoft Services Consulting – Datacenter Services, IT-CE expected to meet 80 percent of that goal in
one year with the IaaS solution from Microsoft. Now, IT-CE has a private cloud ready to use and a cost-effective, agile IT division.
