Saurav Basu (Expert):A: So, as you all know Windows which is launched on January 30, 2007, comes with a tag called “Resource hungry” while in fact, the truth is come thing else, as if you take a look in today’s market, most of the cheapest mainstream hardware, both PC and notebook segment is quite capable enough to run windows vista with its glory.

A: This is a known problem as if a software is not compatible with vista the theme would revart back to basic till the software is running

A: for example, vlc-0.8.6c is not compatible with Windows Vista where as vlc-0.8.6e is :)
Saurav Basu (Expert):Therefore please switch to any media player which is compatible with Vista

Saurav Basu (Expert):For example. Acer 5315 / Compaq C702TU are fully capable enough to run windows vista with its glory, these mainstream 15” notebooks with 1 GB RAM comes at Rs. 24,000/- (price varies city to city).
Saurav Basu (Expert):Whereas same can be said for Desktop also, PC built at Rs. 15000, can run Windows Vista with full potential.
Saurav Basu (Expert):Vista needs basic Intel 945 as video chipset for running the areo interface and at-least of 512 MB RAM, where as with areo and other software its recommended that running 1 GB would provide best results.
Saurav Basu (Expert):The idea which came saying vista is resource hungry bourn at the time back in 2005 when vista was in Beta stage.
Saurav Basu (Expert):If we look back then the price of hardware which vista needs, like 512 MB or more RAM, compatible graphics chipset are not to be found in mainstream market thus their price were pretty high and a 15000 PC could not run vista
Saurav Basu (Expert):Whereas now if one built a PC at Rs. 15000 which may come with a full 2 GB ram and chipset like nvidia 6150 / 7150 or AMD 690G which perfectly capable enough to run vista.

A: Do you have any other hardware which fails windows logo program ?
Saurav Basu (Expert):Microsoft runs a program called Windows Hardware qualification labs. The purpose is to test a hardware with Windows vista under their lab to find out whether the product is performing upto the specification or not

Saurav Basu (Expert):When you buy a hardware if you plan to use with Windows Vista, for best result make sure the hardware comes with Windows Vista Certified Logo
Saurav Basu (Expert):If the hardware contains the logo, it means the hardware is been tested by Microsoft windows vista testing team to be found to operate with its specifications and comes with proper driver
Saurav Basu (Expert):While I talk about driver, Windows Vista is an OS till date from Microsoft which comes with driver support for most number of hardware.
Saurav Basu (Expert):Primarily when you buy a hardware it comes with driver CD or DVD, however it is always possible the product vendor has issued a better driver till you buy the product
Saurav Basu (Expert):Which means the CD / DVD you have you with may not contain the up to date driver
Saurav Basu (Expert):However if the product has a Windows certification logo, you may visit their product support web site to obtain the latest driver for your hardware
Saurav Basu (Expert):A device driver, or software driver is a computer program allowing higher-level computer programs to interact with a device.

Saurav Basu (Expert):As I was saying, Device driver allows your Windows and programs to get the most out of your CPU and hardware
Saurav Basu (Expert):Every vendor issues driver update which is important to get most out of your devices
Saurav Basu (Expert):With Windows Vista it has become more easy as Microsoft it self is now providing driver update via their Microsoft Update service..
Saurav Basu (Expert):Visit Windows Update, Start > All Programs >> Windows Update
Saurav Basu (Expert):Which now would scan your system and would look in to Update database to offer you upadates (if any) available for your product
Saurav Basu (Expert):Hello CLMLBX, RAM is important to load application and to exicute them where as a program when running at RAM needs to interact with Drivers and gets some problem due to incompatibility with RAM and motherboard system may detect it as a faulty driver.

Q: SO IS THIS BCOZ OF MY RAM....AND YA MY MB IS WHQL CERTIFED FOR WINDOWS XP,WINDOWS XP PR X64,WINDOWS VISTA* 32 & 64 BIT.........I AM USING VISTA ULTIMATE.BUT ram does not need any driver and the error is bcoz of device driver .....
A: Therefore it is important to have a system which is compatible between its own parts

Q: in that list nor transcend or kingston ram  is listed in it so I can not use that too on my motherboard..but they are too good brands...
A: From my personal exp, I woould say, kingsote do offer better performance, but before you change the brand of the RAM get in touch with your RAM vendor and requst for a replacement unti

Saurav Basu (Expert):Now what I was mentioning is, All Intel compatible motherboards with higher chipsets supports LGA775
Saurav Basu (Expert):However, Intel Pentium 506 / 526 which are Pentium 2.66 GHz intel LGA775 processor, thogh they are not listed as support product but they would work with those motherboards
Saurav Basu (Expert):But ahaving said, that they may offer these type of BSOD and occational stability issue
Saurav Basu (Expert):Therefore, when you are buying hardware also make sure, your motherboard is tested with them !!!
Saurav Basu (Expert):
Q: Wiil Vista Basic, atleast, run on Intels new low cost laptops, based on Intels new Atom Processor?
A: Hi, it is not yet official though, but its just not processor which is important to run vista, one needs HDD space as well as capable Chipset (VGA) and enough RAM for those sub 7" notebooks like EEEPC

Q: So will the new laptop run it? Your opinion?
A: When asking my personal thought, I would say we already have videos uploaded in YouTube showing EEEPC can run Vista when its been modified with vLite and extra HDD space

Q: does vista use the power of core 2 duo........(not multi tasking).........make fast a single task
A: Vista is capable enough to use Multi Core processors, but please note, Multi core is there not just to make your single applications fast, rather to make sure you can process many things at once. Also Vista is a platform which allows you to run your softwares, its the software which needs to be optimized for Multi core systems
Saurav Basu (Expert):They point is in today's market any given Cheapest Mainstream product is capable to run Windows Vista !!!

Q: THANX  MAN ............IS THERE ANYWAY TO FIND OUT THE SOLUTION FOR MY PROBLEM.?
A: Few personal doubt, I really doubt its the RAM, do note, there is no option for reparering a RAM, so please ask your vendor for support
Saurav Basu (Expert):I guess only solution they would offer is a replacement RAM
Saurav Basu (Expert):CLMLBX, I cant be sure as providing support remotelly but if you use self look at the issue, its RAM / Motherboard which seems to have a mis - match. Therefore often this cuases the issue.
