Building
differentiated user experiences with Windows Vista
Windows Vista enables users to build
visually stunning applications which deliver great performance
and user experience. In this session, we discuss how as a developer,
you can take advantage of Windows Vista to build cutting edge
user-interfaces. We start by discussing WPF – the underlying
UI engine for Windows Vista, followed by Aero – the much
talked about glass effect, and then go on to discuss how you
can integrate speech in your applications with Windows Vista's
speech recognition and synthesis technology
Building Secure,
Reliable and Performant Applications with
Windows Vista One of the biggest goals behind Windows Vista was
focus on fundamentals to help improve security, performance
and reliability. In this session, we discuss how your application
can leverage next-generation security technology like UAC,
Cardspace and Crypto Next Gen, how to take advantage of the
new transactions model and work with file system and the registry
and how to work with Application Recovery and Restart Manager
to provide a great user experience. Finally we discuss some
of the improvements in Vista memory management which lead
to performance improvements, and the impact of these changes
on applications. Speaker:

Building Connected
Applications with Windows Vista After endless debates on purely online and purely
offline applications, the industry has come to recognize the
value of applications supporting “sometimes connected”
or “mostly online” scenarios. This allows applications
to provide the users with a consistent experience irrespective
of whether the application is connected online or not. Windows
Vista provides several features to help such applications.
In this session we discuss technologies like network detection,
web-services, reliable messaging, offline data caching and
the RSS platform which can be used to build connected applications
with Windows Vista Speaker:

Connecting Users with
Data in New Ways with the Office 2007 System For most information workers in the enterprise the
favourite UI happens to one of the Office applications, and
ideally they would prefer to work with the Line of Business
Applications using Office only. Doing this however has been
difficult with limited support from the LOB applications,
and not enough sophistication on the Office platform to support
complex scenarios. Office 2007 however was designed to facilitate
exactly these kind of scenarios – working with the LOB
applications using what are called Office Business Applications
(OBA). In this session, we take a deep dive into OBAs and
see how to create this new breed of customizable solutions
using Visual Studio Tools for Office (VSTO), Excel, InfoPath
and Sharepoint. Speaker:

Building Collaboration
Solutions using the Office 2007 System
While all enterprises have been asking for them, collaborations
solutions have been extremely difficult to build, with the
developers requiring to master various technologies. With
the Office 2007 System, building collaborative solutions is
much simpler. In this session we first walk you thru how to
create collaboration solutions on Sharepoint without writing
any code at all, and then show you how to build advanced workflows
and forms support, all using managed code and Visual Studio
Tools for Office.
