 | | | | | | | | | | | | | | As part of Microsoft's efforts to develop the talent pool in the country, we are keen to reach out to students with high potential and passion for technology. We believe it is these fresh minds that will help drive tomorrow's technologies. If you have always had a passion for technology and asked "why?" here is a chance to know "how". We intake final semester students as Trainee Engineers. They are trained for up to 11 months, both classroom training and mentoring, to make them experts with Microsoft products and technologies so that they learn how to help solve technical problems. Trainees are given scope to learn, and develop technical skills. The trainee program builds abilities and helps nurture a career in technology by providing challenging situations in various environments. Upon successful completion of the training, we interview the trainees and select Support Engineers. What do some of our Trainee Engineer's from the previous batch have to say : | |
I am a Computer science engineer from the Bangalore Institute of Technology . I joined Microsoft as a trainee through the Talent Incubation program at GTSC in November 2007. The knowledge that I have gained by being a part of this program has been phenomenal. The course was aptly designed for college hires without practical experience and has helped me hone my interpersonal skills.
The buddy system was an interesting approach and helped us feel comfortable in the new environment. Our Program manager helped us understand our value to Microsoft and was of immense support and influenced me greatly.
At Microsoft, one enjoys the vibrant and supportive space that helps you learn. The people here meet and excel the challenges they face and are strong motivational forces one gets to see, experience and live. I always believe that one must work hard and play hard; after all, life's short!
Painting is my favorite hobby but I also love to read and listen to music. I also like to be involved in social work, and work towards creating a better world for generations to come. I care for animals - after all, they need compassion more than we do!

I come from Sir M.V.I.T and graduated as an engineer from the field of Information science. My TIP (Talent Incubation Program) days were like a revelation. Coming from a background of archaic syllabus and teaching techniques and being thrust into the nerve centre of new and exciting technology was quite a paradigm shift.
I learnt a lot and had a lot of fun as well. The advanced communication workshop added a lot of value to me and the role specific technical trainings helped us develop technical acumen.
Our mentors helped us transition quite smoothly into the corporate world and played a bigger role as well. They helped us make an informed decision as to which specific product cluster we could take up and get technically prepared for the assessment as well.
I like the have-fun-while-you-work approach here at GTSC and the plethora of resources available here is amazing. The sky is the limit in terms of learning and growth possibilities. The open and informal approach makes it easy to give your very best!!
I am an active member of the Toastmasters club at Microsoft (also known as the Microsoft Speech weavers club) and I like to dabble in theatre, dance and music.

 | | "We are not interested in knowing what you do not know, but we want to know is what you know and how well you know it". This statement made by Microsoft during the presentation at my college touched me deeply.
I was an engineering student, from AMC College of Engineering, when I attended the Talent Incubation Program 2008. In college I had a theoretical knowledge of subjects but I was struggling to understand the value of the subjects being taught.
The program gave me an understanding of the theory behind the technology/product and most importantly I was given an opportunity to work on it. Once I realized the value and implementation, my interest increased and I was able to grasp things easily. What once seemed to be a herculean task has now become interesting and challenging.
This gave me an opportunity to deploy my project, understand the project life cycle and broaden my skill sets. My mentor helped me through the program and gave me a glimpse of the corporate culture. This mentally prepared me to adapt to the environment thus reducing the time to ramp up once I joined the organization.
GTSC has been very supportive on several initiatives, like when I wanted to start a basketball team at Microsoft. There is a transparent work culture with an opportunity to work with talented and passionate people.
If you have a passion for technology and people, then this is the place to be.

There is a lot of importance given to work life balance, and being married this is very important, to be successful at work. Besides my core job responsibilities, I have also been involved with GTSC Community activities and the GTSC Musicians group.

As a father of two kids who make my life, Work-life balance is important for me and Microsoft does facilitate and coach on where to draw line between two. When I am not at work, I spend time cooking, painting, reading novels and going on adventure trips.
