Q. What is the objective of Microsoft Innovative Teachers Leadership Award (ITLA)?
A. To recognize and award the teachers who are doing exemplary work using IT in their teaching-learning environment.
   
Q. Why should a teacher participate in this contest?
A. To get an opportunity to share his/her best practices and learn from like-minded teachers not only from within the country but from teachers across the globe. This would also earn them recognition at the state and national level.
   
Q. Do we have to pay anything to register?
A. No, registration is absolutely free.
   
Q. Will only the registered teachers be allowed to participate?
A. Yes
   
Q. What category of teachers can participate in ITLA?
A. All teachers from class 1-12, both private and government schools, and DGET-lead schools.
   
Q. How many winners have been chosen from the earlier contests?
A. 10 in 2004, 15 in 2005, 10 in 2006 and 12 in 2007
   
Q. Who bears the expenses towards participation at the national level?
A. The participant bears the cost of projects submitted at the national level.
   
Q. Who bears the expenses (travel, food, lodging, conveyance) towards participation at the regional level or at the worldwide level?
A. The expenses are sponsored by Microsoft and are subject to relevant clearances from respective departments and schools.
   
Q. Is there any cash prize at any level?
A. No. There are now cash prizes at any level of the contest.
   
Q. In case of the winner's inability to go abroad for any professional or personal reason to participate at the Regional or Worldwide level, can the winner nominate another teacher/someone else on his/her behalf?
A. No, in such a case the winner misses an opportunity to participate and the next winner in the ranking gets the opportunity.
   
Q. Can the winner exchange the international visit into cash prize?
A. No. The visit can't be exchanged with any cash prize.
   
Q. Where should the teachers send their contest entries?
A. The addresses are provided in <details> section of this website.
   
Q. What should be the mode of sending the entries?
A. By courier in CDs (floppies are not advised though valid).
   
Q. Is there any mode of submission that will be 'disqualified'?
A. No, but the preferred modes are on-line and in CDs by courier.
   
Q. Is there a 'valid' and 'invalid' entry status?
A. Yes, if the entry does not contain all sections i.e. A,B & C then the entry is invalid.
   
Q. How many teachers will be selected as national winners?
A. 2 in each category, i.e. Community, Collaboration, Content and Educator's choice, and 2 for teachers with special needs. Total 10 teachers.
   
Q. Is there any allocation of numbers as winners from government school teachers and/or private school teachers as national winners?
A. No. There is no such allocation. Total 10 teachers would be awarded – it could be from any sector.
   
Q. Is there any other recognition awarded to teachers apart from the national winners e.g. at state level/organization level/school level?
A. Yes 5 winners from each evaluation location would be awarded in their own state. The State list is as under:

  • Bangalore (Goa, Karnataka and Lakshadweep)
  • Gurgaon (Punjab, Himachal, Haryana)
  • Ranchi (Jharkhand & Bihar)
  • Hyderabad (Andhra, Orissa & West Bengal)
  • Pune (Maharashtra, Dadra&Nagar Haveli, Daman & Diu)
  • Bhopal (Chhatisgarh, MP, Assam & Seven sisters)
  • Jaipur (Rajasthan, Gujarat & J&K)
  • Chennai (Tamil Nadu, Kerala & Puducherry)
  • Lucknow (UP & Uttrakhand)
