Q. What is the objective of Microsoft Innovative Teachers Leadership Award (ITLA)?
A. To recognize and award the teachers who are doing exemplary work using IT in their teaching-learning environment.
 
Q. Why should a teacher participate in this contest?
A. ITLA gives an opportunity to share his / her best practices and learn from like-minded teachers from across the globe.
It’s a platform to earn recognition at the state and national level.
 
Q. Do teachers have to pay anything to register?
A. No, registration is absolutely free.
 
Q. How can you register for ITLA 2011-2012?
A. Register by any of the 3 options mentioned below:
  1. Register online by filling this form.
  2. Download the registration form and send us the completed form at the designated evaluation center. You can also use a photocopy of registration form for submitting your details.
  3. SMS “ITLA” to 58888 and we will get back you with more details*
*(by choosing option “3” you are declaring that you are authorizing Microsoft to reach out to you for completing the registration form)
 
Q. Will only the registered teachers be allowed to participate?
A. Yes
 
Q. What category of teachers can participate in ITLA?
A. All teachers from class K-12 from both private and government schools and DGET-lead schools are allowed to participate.
 
Q. How many winners have been chosen from the earlier contests?
A. 10 in 2004, 15 in 2005, 10 in 2006, 12 in 2007, 6 in 2008 and 10 in 2009-2010.
 
Q. Who bears the expenses towards participation at the national level?
A. The participant bears the cost of projects submitted at the national level.
 
Q. Who bears the expenses (travel, food, lodging, conveyance) towards participation at the regional level or at the worldwide level?
A. The expenses are sponsored by Microsoft and are subject to relevant clearances from respective departments and schools.
 
Q. Is there any cash prize at any level?
A. No. There are no cash prizes at any level of the contest.
 
Q. In case of the winner's inability to go abroad for any professional or personal reason to participate at the Regional or Worldwide level, can the winner nominate another teacher / someone else on his / her behalf?
A. No, in such a case the winner misses an opportunity to participate and the next winner in the ranking gets the opportunity.
 
Q. Can the winner exchange the international visit for cash prize?
A. No. The visit can't be exchanged with any cash prize.
 
Q. Where should the teachers send their contest entries?
A. You can send your entries at designated evaluation center (state-wise) featured in the Contact Us section of this website.
 
Q. What should be the mode of sending the entries?
A. By courier in CDs/DVDs (floppies are not advised, though valid).
 
Q. Post registration, how can you submit the project?
A. You can submit the project through either of the two options:
Option 1: Through Submission Template which is available for download here
Option 2: Through instructions given for non Template-based Submission. For details, visit this page.
Points to remember:
  1. Submission of projects for the contest can only be done on a CD/DVD which should contain the material given as per Section A, B, C
  2. CD/DVD to be sent to the address mentioned (state-wise)
  3. IMP: Last date for receiving Registrations/Project Submissions is on or before 29th February, 2012
    Registrations/Project Submissions received after this date will not be eligible to participate in the contest
 
Q. Is there any mode of submission that will be 'disqualified'?
A. No, but the preferred modes are on-line and in CDs / DVDs by courier.
 
Q. Is there a 'valid' and 'invalid' entry status?
A. Yes, if the entry does not contain all sections i.e. A, B & C then the entry is invalid.
 
Q. How many teachers will be selected as national winners?
A. 5 Country Winners will be announced, with 2 awards reserved for teachers with special needs**
Country Winners will represent India at the Global Partners in Learning Forum***

Q. Is there any specific category under which winners are selected?
A. Every year, teachers who exhibit the unmatched innovation are selected as India Country Winners in different categories namely:
  1. Collaboration
  2. Extended learning Beyond Classroom
  3. Knowledge Building and Critical Thinking
  4. Innovation in Challenging Contexts
  5. Educators Choice
 
Q. Is there any allocation of numbers as winners from government school teachers and/or private school teachers as national winners?
A. No. There is no such allocation; the teachers could be from either sector.
 
Q. Is there any other recognition awarded to teachers apart from the national winners e.g. at state level / organization level / school level?
A. 25 Regional winners will be announced (they could be from any State/Region)
