SQL Server
2005 Mobile Edition: Tips & Techniques |
| Session Abstract: |
There are some very
unique and complicated challenges in designing and
implementing data driven applications to extend
enterprise information to mobile users. We
will discuss SQL Server 2005 Mobile Edition performance
and security techniques for data access and synchronization
used in creating disconnected enterprise line of
business applications. |

Location Based
APIs |
| Session Abstract: |
Windows Mobile 5.0
supports Global Positioning System (GPS) based application
development which opens a whole new world of applications
for mobile devices. This session will introduce
you to the GPS APIs, show the basics to program
them and then illustrate how real-life location
aware applications can be built using them. |

Notification Broker |
| Session Abstract: |
State Notification
Broker is a component introduced with Windows Mobile
5.0 that allows you to know when something happens
in a system so that your application can be notified
about it to take appropriate action. This session
will introduce you to State Notification Broker,
exemplify how such notification applications can
be built, and then show how your applications can
publish their state with the system for other applications
to be notified. |

Extending
Active Sync: How to Sync Your Application on Windows
Mobile Device & the Desktop |
| Session Abstract: |
Microsoft Outlook
is an excellent example of how we maintain data
both on our device and the desktop – and synchronize
them to keep ourselves and our applications updated.
This session will discuss how you can design such
applications which have a component on the device
and the other component on the device that automatically
synchronize whenever an ActiveSync connection is
setup between them. You are, thus, also introduced
to Windows CE Remote API (RAPI) that makes all this
possible, in the process. |

Building Scalable
Data Replication Models with SQL Mobile |
| Session Abstract: |
The session will provide
an in-depth analysis of the replication models available
in the SQL Server 2005 Mobile edition. SQL Server
Mobile provides "out-of-the-box" functionality
to replicate data with SQL Server via RDA and Merger
Replication. See for yourself how the two replication
models provide a spectrum of increasing replication
functionalities. Depending upon the complexity and
scale of the application, one can use either RDA
or Merge Replication. The session will discuss the
functionality and usage scenarios of these two replication
models. Additionally, an insight will be provided
into proposed enhancements to the replication architecture
in the next release of SQL Server Mobile edition.
The next generation replication architecture will
expose the sync APIs, and the APIs can be used for
developing sync functionality with other heterogeneous
data sources. |

Building Scalable
Data Replication Models with SQL Mobile |
| Session Abstract: |
The lab will showcase
the Merge Replication Model of SQL Server 2005 Mobile
edition. It will take you through a hands-on experience
of working with the aforementioned replication model,
and assess the "out-of-the-box" functionality
provided with SQL Server Mobile. By the end of this
lab session, you will be an expert in creation of
database, publication, web sync, subscription and
syncing data from application using SQL Server 2005
Mobile edition. |
