Changing the face of education enrollment in India with .NET

Established in 1990, the Jain Group of Institutions aim to
deliver high quality education to the masses. The group is
a respected name in academic circles, and their education
stream is diverse with subjects such as Biotechnology and
Business Management.
Customer Situation
Jain Group wanted to expand access to enrollment into
the deeper pockets of the country, and enhance the opportunity
of education. The group also wanted to leverage the
power of the Internet, and reach out to the masses through
the online medium. Hence, the quest to web-enable the
enrollment tests process began.
Solution
The group approached India based software company metalearn,
which is engaged in perfecting products and solutions
in e-learning for organizations and institutions across
the world. |
We needed the application quickly and we tried
other web application tools, but none matched
expectations in terms of the estimated budget,
or time frame. The solution was found in .NET.

The .NET framework was invaluable in helping us
complete the significant implementation on time
and within the allocated budget. Also, finding
programmers who are willing to migrate from Visual
Studio 6.0 to Microsoft .NET is relatively easier.
Going by the success we have had, we are in the
planning stage of converting our existing e-learning
application onto the .NET platform.

The challenge was to build a solution
that would take advantage of the World Wide Web. Using
.NET framework, they developed an online testing module,
'Metatest', that would test students across the land
before enrollment in the various courses.

Given the fact that historical attempts at such projects
were termed as “ambitious”, and “technologically challenging”,
this product was indeed a breakthrough in the industry.
