iisii Software leverages .NET for their principle of "one platform, one database, one system", effective shipboard property management.

Profile

Established in October 2000, iisii Software, based in Salzburg, Austria, is a privately owned company with three management staffers, and two off-shore development teams with a total of eight developers.

iisii is a software services company, focusing on development, sales, and support, specifically for the Cruise Ship industry and the local hospitality industry. They have developed applications addressing business functions such as purchasing and stock control, crew administration and payroll, passenger manifest reporting, passenger accounts receivables, comment card analysis, AVO logging, US Immigration, APIS interfacing, automatic cabin allocation, restaurant reservation, prepaid gratuity distribution, among others.

Customer Situation

iisii Cruise wanted to create a shipboard Property Management System for the Cruise industry with the lowest Cost of Ownership. It needed a highly reliable and stable software development environment with low administrative and maintenance costs.

Through this system, they wanted to automate business functions such as point-of-sale, excursions sales, accounting and gangway access control, inventory and purchasing and crew management. The solution needed to have the capability to scale from a yacht-sized ship or river cruiser with 100 passengers to midsized and large passenger vessels with capacities of 3,000 passengers or more.

iisii Cruise follows the principle: 'One platform, one database, one system'. When we designed iisii Cruise, the goal was to beat all other solutions in the market in three key areas: ease of use, robustness against user errors and technical complexity. We were determined to provide a system that runs with minimal intervention, and did not require expert knowledge for its maintenance and administration. Today we have achieved that goal with our product.

Solution

Compulink Systems (India), a Microsoft Certified Partner, built the application leveraging Microsoft .NET and keeping the customer's future needs in mind.

The product addresses scalablility through Web services that enable interaction with external Web-based systems.

The system supports multi-lingual interfaces and print formats. The user interface is aesthetic and easy to navigate. .NET allows easy deployment and the system can be handled by IT Support personnel with basic technical skills.

The solution automates the entire cruise ship process, right from reservations, to check-in, point-of-sale, front-office, back-office (including financial reports), checkouts, and excursion sales. The system also automates data integration for Credit Card swipes between servers and the point-of-sale system.

Benefits

Through .NET, Compulink was able to create a scalable solution with a low Total Cost of Ownership. In addition, the solution gave 24x7 uptime.

.NET makes the solution easy-to-maintain, and portable. The solution makes room for costeffective implementations of functional modules, thus rapidly accelerating the time-tomarket.
