easyCinema, a part of easyGroup, is in the business of screening
movies. Like most of the easyGroup businesses, easyCinema
has a business strategy of operating on a highvolume, low-margin
model. Through this model, the group ensures sustainability
of the business, and simultaneously provides consumers with
affordable services.
Customer Situation
The challenge before easyCinema was to have a mechanism
in place that enabled performance measurement. Such
a mechanism was key in order to ensure survival. They
wanted to implement a system that enabled the above
analytics. In addition, they wanted features such as
Yield Management, and a web-interface for selling tickets
online. Naturally, a high-level of automation was needed. |

Solution
As their technology partner, Wipro designed, developed,
and deployed a .NET-based portal - www.easycinema.com.
The portal addresses easyCinema's high-end automomation
needs. It enables reporting and daily transaction processing
by tracking multiple payment gateways, and vending machines.
It tracks bar-coded tickets, and automatic turnstile-based
entry systems.
The portal enables consumers to book tickets and pay
for them online. The dynamic pricing features and the
ability to take print-outs of their online transaction
makes the consumer's online experience comfortable.
At the kiosks, consumers are issued a reusable bar-coded
ticket that is scanned by digital readers at various
entry spots in the cinema hall.
Developed in an aggressive timeframe of just five months,
the solution received the "The Best Project Developed
on .NET" award from Microsoft. |

Through this solution, easyCinema was able to maximize yield
and deliver customer delight.
easyCinema was able to provide consumers with tickets at
a lower price along with the convenience of a secure, online
transaction processing system, alongside ensuring sustainability
of their business.
With an automated entry system that employs bar-code scanners
and turnstiles, the solution has eliminated the need for expensive
box- offices, resulting in cost savings to the tune of 45%
for easyCinema.
