McGuire Real Estate consolidates legacy applications to gain a competitive edge using .NET

Profile

McGuire Real Estate is the premier independent Real Estate brokerage in the San Francisco Bay Area. With over 200 agents, 40 staff members, and more than US $1 billion in Real Estate sales, the company was ranked 76th in 2002 among the largest 100 residential real estate brokerages in the United States. McGuire specializes in luxury Real Estate.

Customer Situation

The IT setup at McGuire Real Estate was rather outdated. The legacy systems were either standalone in nature, or were connected to a Paradox database application that was extremely slow over the Wide Area Network (WAN). Such a setup severely impacted the workflow process.

In addition, the company needed to address concerns around internal Business Intelligence management, and putting up an website with enhanced functionalities.

In order to address the issues around the IT setup and to lay the foundation for a dynamic, data-rich Internet website, McGuire decided to implement an integrated solution that would improve employee productivity, boost business visibility, and establish the foundation for a comprehensive industry website.

MISSILE paves the way for our future. Now that we have the back-office under control, we look forward to working with TCS on a total revamp of our consumer website, www.mcguire.com, which is based on the MISSILE workflow platform.

Solution

McGuire reached out to Tata Consulting Services (TCS) for an application that would integrate all key processes within the organization and enable data access from anywhere.

McGuire Information System for Sales, Inventory, Leads and Expenses (MISSILE), was developed on the Microsoft .NET platform. The system leverages the company's investments in Microsoft Windows 2000 Server, Active Directory, Exchange 2000, and Great Plains Dynamics and replaces several legacy systems.

MISSILE provides McGuire employees with a central data repository and a suite of browser-based workflow applications, eliminating redundant data entries, and providing real-time, role-based access to information to all the users.

Benefits

An incredible 65% reduction in costs, improved employee productivity, anytime, anywhere information and improved business performance are some new benefits.

The biggest benefit has been the increase in productivity by reducing the time spent to manually collate and generate the correct data for each business cycle. MISSILE takes advantage of built-in Microsoft tools to present data as per the employees' requirement.

With MISSILE, McGuire was also able to adopt lower cost VPN-based WAN connections instead of expensive leased lines, saving 65% on recurring monthly charges. With MISSILE, the overall speed and efficiency of the workflow has improved drastically, saving the company 20% in time-ontask and producing an ROI of at least 20%.

With access to up-to-date information, McGuire can closely watch its overall performance and the performance of individual agents. This not only helps manage the financials of the company but also provides inputs to Sales Managers so that they can do performance appraisals more frequently.
