Anil Bhansali

Anil Bhansali is the General Manager of the Windows and Window Live Group in MSIDC. The Windows group is working on delivering key features in areas of Networking, Wireless WAN, and Virtualization, improving customer experience through work on inbox applications for the next version of the Windows Operating System and servicing all the released versions of Windows. The Search team is making significant contributions in improving live search relevance for India.

Anil started his career at Microsoft in 1991 and prior to moving to MSIDC was the Partner Development Manager of Windows Sharepoint Services. He relocated to India in 2003 as Director of Windows Live Platforms Services Group and was responsible for setting up and building the MSN and Live groups at MSIDC.

Developing, delivering, and growing an entire end to end Windows Live Alerts from MSIDC.

The Windows Live Alerts service allows users to stay up-to-date with all important information feeds and notifications whenever anything new comes up. The service allows users to route the notifications to e-mail, SMS, or IM – and push through over a billion alerts every month across the world.

The team at MSIDC has end-to-end ownership of the entire service platform and is working on delivering a platform that can scale to millions of users, millions of publishers and billions of alerts in a cost effective manner.

Windows Live Alerts will ship as an integral part of the Windows Live wave 3 release slated for in the second half of this calendar year. The team will deliver a major part of the "What's New" social networking experience (one of the pillars for the overall release). There will be substantial investment in making the infrastructure significantly more scalable and taking the platform to the next level.
