Qi Lu
President, Online Services Division
As president of Microsoft's Online Services Division (OSD), Dr. Qi Lu leads the
company's search and online advertising efforts. Dr. Lu oversees the OSD Research
& Development team which has responsibility for the evolution of Microsoft's
search, portal and advertising services; the Online Audience Business Group; and
the Advertiser and Publisher Solutions Business Group. Dr. Lu reports to Microsoft
chief executive officer Steve Ballmer.
Prior to joining Microsoft, Dr. Lu spent 10 years as a Yahoo! senior executive.
His roles included serving as the executive vice president of engineering for the
company's Search and Advertising Technology Group where he oversaw the development
of Yahoo!'s Web search and monetization platforms and vice president of engineering
responsible for the technology development of Yahoo!'s search, e-commerce and local
listings of businesses and products.
Before joining Yahoo!, Dr. Lu worked as a research staff member at IBM's Almaden
Research Center and Carnegie Mellon University and was a faculty member at Fudan
University in China. He received his bachelor of science and master of science in
computer science from Fudan University and his Ph.D. in computer science from Carnegie
Mellon University. Dr. Lu holds 20 U.S. patents.
Bharat Shyam
General Manager - Windows Azure Developer Platform
Bharat Shyam is the General Manager of the Windows Azure Developer Platform team
and is also responsible for overall planning of Windows Azure. He has worked as
a Software Design Engineer, Group Program Manager & General Manager within Microsoft
for nearly 2 decades. He has worked on several products and services including most
versions of Internet Explorer, Windows 7 and Windows servicing, and creating the
first XML object model in Microsoft. He also worked on launching several online
services while creating Microsoft’s consumer billing system as a founder of that
team. Bharat also holds multiple patents in various areas.
Bharat has done his B.Tech from IIT, Bombay and M.S. in Computer Science at Stanford.
He tries to travel the world and visit a new country every year but still considers
Bangalore a home away from home as he grew up here. He is a voracious reader, loves
to hike, play chess and lives in the Seattle area.
Brian Hall
General Manager - Internet Explorer and Windows Live
Brian Hall is responsible for growing those 1B+ and 500M+ customer bases and building
lasting partnerships with the world’s top web companies, network operators, and
PC manufacturers. He has been in an earlier incarnation of this role since 2006.
Hall has worked at Microsoft since 1995 in a variety of marketing and engineering
positions. Previously, he started and helped build Windows Live OneCare, the industry’s
first all-in-one PC care service. Hall led the worldwide launch of Windows XP and
worked as a product manager on Windows 95, Windows 98, and Internet Explorer versions
3 through 5. For more than two years he served as the first speech assistant to
Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer.
Hall has a bachelor’s degree with majors in mathematics and economics as well as
philosophy from Yale University, where he competed for four years as a diver on
the varsity swim team and was the team captain and “high point” award winner his
senior year. He is married, has three children, and gets outdoors time outdoors.
Jason Zander
Corporate Vice President, Visual Studio
Jason Zander is the corporate vice president of the Visual Studio Team in the Developer
Division at Microsoft. Zander's responsibilities include the Visual Studio family
of products, which covers a range of technologies: programming languages; JavaScript
runtime and tools; integrated development environment and ecosystem; Microsoft Office,
SharePoint and cloud tooling integration; source control and work item tracking;
and advanced architecture, developer, and testing tools.
As one of the original developers of the Common Language Runtime (CLR), Zander's
primary technical areas of contribution include file formats, metadata, compilers,
debugging and profiling, and integration of the system into key platforms such as
operating systems and databases. Before joining the Visual Studio Team, Zander was
the general manager for the .NET Framework Team. He has worked on numerous products
at Microsoft, including the first several releases of the CLR and .NET Framework,
Silverlight, SourceSafe, and ODBC. Before joining Microsoft in 1992, Zander worked
at IBM Corp. on distributed SQL and SQL/400 at the Rochester lab.
Zander holds a Bachelor of Science degree in computer science from Minnesota State
University. In his spare time, he enjoys playing with his three children and making
furniture in his shop.
Yousef Khalidi
Distinguished Engineer - Windows Azure
Yousef Khalidi is a Distinguished Engineer in the Windows Azure team. Windows Azure
is a platform for developing, deploying, managing, and hosting cloud-based Web services.
Khalidi is responsible for several aspects of the platform, centered on the goal
of building a low-cost, automated, large-scale computing system, using commodity
hardware, with efficiently managed shared resources. Before Windows Azure, Khalidi
led an advanced development team in Windows that tackled a number of related operating
system areas, including application model, resource management, and isolation. He
also served as a member of the Windows Core Architecture group.
Before joining Microsoft, Khalidi was a Distinguished Engineer at Sun Microsystems.
During his 14 years tenure at Sun, he held several development, architecture, and
management positions in Sun’s software division as well as in Sun Labs. Khalidi
was Chief Technology Officer and Chief Architect of Solaris, Chief Architect and
Director of the Sun Cluster product line, Chief Architect of Sun's N1 utility computing
initiative, as well as a principal architect of Solaris MC and Spring operating
systems. He shipped several releases of Sun Cluster and the Solaris operating system,
and has worked on system management software, high speed networking, and memory
management hardware designs.
Khalidi has published works in several areas, including operating systems, high
availability, distributed systems, object-oriented software, high speed networking,
memory management and computer architecture. He holds 30 patents in these areas.
Khalidi has a Ph.D. and a Master of Science in Information and Computer Science
from Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech) in Atlanta, Georgia.
Moorthy Uppaluri

As the General Manager and country head for the Developer and Platform Evangelism
(DPE) division of Microsoft- India, Moorthy is responsible for spearheading the
company’s efforts to build and foster the software ecosystem through his deep and
strategic insights and expansive engagements with customers, partners, developers,
IT professionals, students, academia and start-up organizations.
Prior to this Moorthy was the CEO of Microsoft IT-Global. Microsoft IT-Global is
the offshore arm of Microsoft IT and a seamless extension of its engineering organization.
It is comprised of global Centers of Excellence both in India and China, which worked
on strategic platforms and niche technologies to develop business applications for
internal Microsoft use. Today Microsoft IT-India is mission-critical and the largest
operation of Microsoft IT outside of Redmond.
Moorthy has a Master’s degree in Industrial Management from Northern Illinois University
in DeKalb, Illinois and a MBA from Spring Hill College in Mobile, Alabama. He has
a Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering from Osmania University, Hyderabad. He is
a certified Master Black Belt who practices Six Sigma in day-to-day business to
drive operational excellence. Given his Passion for Academics, he is presently pursuing
his Doctoral studies from the Hyderabad Central University.

Uma Prabhala is a Principal Program Manager on the Dynamics CRM team at Microsoft
India (R&D) Pvt Ltd. Her current role includes defining and designing the next
generation Customer Care CRM products. Prior to Microsoft, Uma was the Director
of Product Management at Oracle, leading their Enterprise Applications Technology
products group. She has donned a variety of technical and management roles in global
organizations like American Airlines, Booz Allen, Siebel and Oracle. She holds an
MBA from the Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University and a B. Tech
in Electrical engineering from Osmania University. Uma loves classical music and
performs regularly for the All India Radio, Hyderabad.
Padmaja Ravishankar

Over 20 years of experience in IT and IS ranging from software development, project/
program management, & IT/IS management with wide exposure to FMCG and Beverages
Distribution, Travel, Shipping, Banking, IT & IT Enabled services. Currently
contributing in the ITES space with 24/7 Customer, a global Top 20 BPO company,
heading Information Systems, after a short stint at heading Technology for Innovation
Labs, an SBU of 24/7 Customer. Prior to this, was with Wipro as part of the CIO’s
office, heading Information Systems for Wipro Infotech and its subsidiaries.
In a Leadership position providing leadership and guidance to a Program Delivery
Group, whose activities include response to Customer requests, development of solutions
and implementation of Projects. Has a clear vision of company’s overall strategies
and contributes to policy making. Influences senior executive management when issues
are unique, complex and difficult.

Aruna Jayanthi
CEO, Capgemini India
Aruna Jayanthi is the Chief Executive Officer of Capgemini India, the Capgemini
Group’s largest delivery centre and main innovation hub with over 31,000 employees.
In this role, she manages the operations of all the business units covering, consulting,
technology and outsourcing services in India.
Prior to this, Aruna was the Global Delivery Officer for Outsourcing services at
Capgemini where she improved the quality, productivity and profitability of the
outsourcing operations for Capgemini worldwide. Aruna joined Capgemini in early
2000 and was part of the core team that initiated and setup the offshore capabilities.
She has over 25 years of experience in the IT services industry and has worked in
key roles in multinational and Indian system integrator companies.
Aruna holds Masters in Management Studies in Finance.
Joji S Gill
Director, Microsoft India
Joji S. Gill joined Microsoft India as the Director for Human Resources in April
2006. She is responsible for driving the overall people strategy and building synergies
for all the six Microsoft businesses in India namely: Microsoft Corporation India
(Pvt.) Ltd which is the Sales & Marketing Subsidiary, Microsoft India Development
Center, Microsoft Global Technical Support Centre, Microsoft IT, Microsoft Global
Services India and Microsoft Research India. The current strength of Microsoft in
India is over 5300 people making it the second largest employee population for Microsoft,
outside of the US.
Joji brings over 20 years of international HR expertise to Microsoft and has lived
and worked in 3 different continents. Prior to joining Microsoft, she worked with
Symantec/Veritas Software for 2 years in various leadership capacities including
Senior Director - Global Talent Acquisition and Senior Director - HR for the Veritas
Global R&D organization. At Veritas/Symantec she led a team of more than 70 HR professionals
across the world and drove their Global Talent Acquisition strategy in more than
20 countries. Prior to this, Joji also worked as a Global Head for KLA-Tencor for
the HR Business Partner organization. She spent 10 years at KLA-Tencor, two years
of which were based in London as the European HR Director.
Joji’s experience spans to other Asian countries China, Taiwan, Japan, Korea and
Singapore. She started her career in India with Ranbaxy Pharmaceuticals as an HR
Management Trainee, before migrating to the US.
Joji holds a Bachelors Degree in Economics and a Masters in Personnel Management
and Industrial Relations from Punjab University. She lives in Gurgaon and her interests
include traveling, photography, space designing and reading.
Shanti Subbaraman
VP Engineering and Head, Emulex Bangalore
Shanti heads the Bangalore development centre of Emulex Corporation, an industry
leader in converged networking solutions for the data center. She co-founded Aarohi
Communications, a venture-backed company that pioneered innovation in the Storage
Area Networking space and later got acquired by Emulex Corporation. She has 25 years
of experience in software engineering and management and has been specializing in
product development in networking software and systems. She is well-versed with
setting up and managing centers of cutting-edge IT engineering in India for global
companies.
Shanti began her career with Digital Equipment Corporation in the US as a software
engineer developing Artificial Intelligence applications for OS crash analysis and
network troubleshooting. She moved to India in the early nineties, bringing back
a network software project to Digital India and was instrumental in setting up one
of the first offshore development centers in India. She later worked at Wipro R&D
and built teams that designed terminal servers and remote access server products
for domestic and export markets.
Besides enjoying engineering, Shanti is an avid adventurer and musician. Her travel
passions include Himalayan treks with her 2 young sons, aero and aqua sports. She
sings Indian classical and light music and performs with several bands. Shanti has
a B.Tech in Electrical Engineering from IIT Madras and M.S. in Computer Science
from the University of Oregon.
Anil Kumble
Former Indian cricketer and captain of the Indian Cricket team
No.1 bowler in India's history has won more Test matches than Anil Kumble, and there
probably hasn't been a harder trier either. Unorthodox, he trades the legspinner's
proverbial yo-yo for a spear, as the ball hacks through the air rather than hanging
in it, then comes off the pitch with a kick rather than a kink. Everyone remembers
his perfect 10 in Delhi, but also memorable is his 6 for 71 on a flat pitch at Multan
that helped India win a Test in Pakistan for the first time, and his hauls of 24
wickets in Australia in 2003-04, and the recent 23 wickets against West Indies in
four Tests, including a match haul of 7 for 110 in the last Test in Jamaica which
helped India achieve their first series win there in 35 years.
Stuti Shukla

Stuti Shukla has been leading Marketing, Product Management and Business Strategy
for 17 years targeting global, US and India markets. A seasoned Microsoft veteran
with eleven years with the company, Stuti has held a variety of leadership roles
at Microsoft, including running worldwide marketing for small Independent Software
Vendors (ISV), leading global business strategy for the multi-billion dollar Windows
Server Business, to leading Product Management for the Mobile Developer product
group most recently.
Stuti moved to lead marketing to Technical professionals for Microsoft India about
a year ago. She is responsible for marketing efforts in India targeting Software
Developers and Infrastructure Professionals across all Microsoft products; this
also includes the MSDN and TechNet India properties, and Marquee events like Microsoft
TechEd.
Stuti holds an MBA from Carnegie Mellon University in the US and a Bachelor’s degree
in engineering from NIT (REC) Rourkela, India.
Narendra Bhandari
Director, Intel Software and Services Group, Intel Asia Pacific
Narendra Bhandari is the Director for Asia Pacific of the Intel Software and Services
Group - Developer Relations Division at Intel. In this role he focuses on developing
the software solutions market across Asia Pacific. Narendra drives engineering,
marketing and business relationships with Software Organizations, Academia and software
developers in the region across consumer and enterprise segments.
Narendra joined Intel in 1993 and has worked in the areas of systems software, CAD
tools and 3D graphics. After returning to India from the United States in 1998,
he was the general manager of the Internet Solutions Group, working with e-business
solution providers. Narendra also awarded the highest honor for groups, the “Intel
Achievement Award (IAA)” for delivering high-performance graphics software.
He has written technical papers in IEEE and ACM publications. Narendra earned his
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Bangalore University in 1990, followed
by a Master’s degree from Arizona State University in Computer Science. He has also
undertaken project and research work at Centre for Development of Telematics CDOT
and at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) in Chennai in the areas of supercomputing
and telecom infrastructure.
