ARC White Paper: Microsoft Security Overview for the Manufacturing Industry
Updated: January 21, 2005
This white paper by the ARC Advisory Group looks at security issues facing the manufacturing industry and how Microsoft is helping the industry confront this important problem. The white paper also looks at why Microsoft products have been the target of intense and numerous malicious attacks. The authors conclude that these attacks are troublesome to manufacturing because of the heavy and growing use of Microsoft products in all phases of manufacturing. The white paper points out that Microsoft is certainly not ignoring the problem, and under the Trustworthy Computing program, Microsoft is aggressively addressing both short term and long term aspects of the security problem. These efforts include patch management and new security models. Some of these improvements will materialize in the next generation of Microsoft Windows (code named Longhorn).
